In March 09 spent a wonderful 3 weeks aboard Spirit of Adventure when we cruised the Amazon for 10 days. Although the ship is nowhere like the large modern cruise ships she certainly made up for it with her friendly, attentive staff and attention to detail. The food was excellent although not huge portions but there was never a problem if you requested a larger helping. They coped admirably with my husband's dietary requirement. A drawback for some may be the lack of 'floor shows' but then you should be careful choosing your cruise! The lectures were mostly very informative and well delivered. Andrew Stuart-Lloyd, a Baritone who entertained us on a few occasions really was superb as were the Maestro Trio (2 violinists and a pianist). The cost of drinks on board was a pleasant surprise as on other ships they tend to be quite high. We would certainly cruise on her again but like everything in life you need to do your homework and decide what you REALLY want from a cruise.
Quality of Food

Entertainment
We thoroughly enjoyed 'The Three Maestros' and Andrew Stuart-Lloyd the singer.
Shore Excursions
The least favourite excursion was Manaus only because we did not dock until the afternoon therefore the tour went on until n it was getting dark when we were taken to a dreadful zoo run for the army which should definitely be missed!
Staff
Vincencio, the 'Acting' Maitre D in the dining room. He ensured that those who had special dietary requirements received the meals they requested and would change something if the client was not happy with what they had been served. This was always done with a smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Onboard Activities
Yes. Whether active or lectures.
Cabins
No smaller than the huge ships. It was a treat to have LARGE bottles of all toiletries supplied.
