Silversea - Silver Wind
Silver Wind
The Silver Wind was launched in 1995 after the success of its sister ship Silver Cloud. The vessel was designed to be the epitome of cruising comfort and elegance and every effort was made to ensure that the vessel was luxurious without being ostentatious, sophisticated but not pretentious..
And there's no doubt that the Silver Wind delivered exactly what its parent company, Silversea Cruises, had intended. The liner is a spacious, chic and graceful vessel that feels more like a five-star hotel than a cruise ship.
Plus, with the cordial and attentive service provided by highly trained staff, guests are sure to feel well taken care of - and maybe even a little bit spoiled - throughout the voyage..
Cruises on the Silver Wind are available to a wide range of destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Voyages can last from a week to 18 days, depending on the route chosen, and popular ports of call include Barcelona, Piraeus, Monte Carlo, Venice, Las Palmas, Cape Town, Port Louis and Dubai.

Food, cuisine and dining
There are a number of different options for hungry passengers on the Silver Wind. The Restaurant is the main dining room and is a popular choice for those who prefer a traditional experience - ladies are escorted to their table by a waiter, larger tables give a more social feel and food is served with plenty of panache.
Other options include La Terrazza, which offers breakfast and lunch buffets with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. In the evenings, the space is transformed into an Italian bistro.
For fine dining in an intimate atmosphere, consider reserving a table at Le Champagne. It features an amazing six-course dinner inspired by fine wines. At the other end of the spectrum, there's the casual Pool Bar & Grill where you can pick up a grilled burger or a freshly baked slice of pizza.
Cruises on the Silver Wind are all-inclusive, so in most cases, you won't need to worry about paying an extra fee for alternative dining (the exception being Le Champagne).
Complimentary wine is included with lunch and dinner, although if you'd prefer a different vintage, a selection of bottles is available for purchase.
Gratuities are also included as part of your ticket price, so you won't need to worry about tipping during your voyage either.
On-board entertainment and activities
Keeping busy on the Silver Wind isn't difficult and there are a number of activities going on for passengers who don't want to sun themselves by the pool all day - although you are welcome to do that too!
The Show Lounge hosts performances on a nightly basis, as well as films, lectures and demonstrations. The seating is comfortable and well-spaced, so you won't feel cramped and the venue is tiered to ensure that everyone can see the stage clearly.
Connoisseur's Corner is an intimate cigar lounge with gorgeous leather sofas and wood-panelled walls. Other public areas include the Observation Lounge, The Bar and Panorama Lounge. For a bit of poker or a go on the slot machines, head to the casino, or you can enjoy a board game in the card room. There are also several shops, a library and an internet cafe.
Spas and fitness facilities
The Spa at Silversea is a peaceful location with ocean views and plenty of treatment options to ensure that you are completely relaxed throughout your journey.
Facials, body wraps, salon services and massages can all be provided and there are steam rooms and saunas available to help you unwind even more.
Fresh fruit, juice, water and herbal teas are offered to visitors and if you prefer to get your tension out with a workout, the gym is equipped with exercise machines and weights. Fitness classes are also held throughout the day.
Cabins
There are nearly 150 cabins on the Silver Wind and all of them have outside views. In addition, around 75 per cent have gorgeous teak balconies - perfect for a bit of fresh air in the mornings or for catching some sunshine in the afternoons, not to mention the glorious starry skies on nights at sea.
While all of the rooms are categorised as suites - due to there being separate sleeping and sitting areas - there are still seven different price grades to choose from, depending on the size, location and amenities provided.
Those looking for cruise deals should consider the standard rooms, which measure at least 240 square feet (nearly 100 square feet larger than the industry standard). They are extremely comfortable, with a large bed, plush linens and space for up to three guests.
Other options include Medallion, Silver, Royal and Grand Suites, while the most lavish rooms are the Owners' Suites. But no matter which accommodation you select, you'll enjoy plenty of storage space, a large private bathroom and a mini-bar and fridge stocked with your favourite drinks.
