My wife and I had previously sailed with NCL, P & O and Princess with upwards of 1700 passengers and enjoyed them all , especially Princess.
Having seen most of the Carribean,Hawaii and West coast USA,we thought it was time for something completely different and consequently booked with Silversea sailing out of Dubai on the Silver Whisper on an eight night cruise bound for Mumbai.
At first we were concerned that we might be in for a culture shock with only 300 or so passengers for company so limited our first voyage to this shorter break but on reflection, wished we had booked for a longer cruise.
Right from the start,we were cordially met within Dubai airport, whisked through immigration etc. quicker than any other airport we've been through, then driven in luxury limo to our overnight accommodation at the Dubai Grand Hyatt as if celebrities.
A nice touch was the red carpet stretching from the arrival building to the ships gangway with check in on board very efficiently performed to to accompaniment of Champagne and cannapes.
With it being an all inclusive package it was so relaxing, never having to reach for the charge card for a round of drinks, etc.
Service throughout was excellent and with most of the guests being seasoned cruise enthusiasts the atmosphere was was the most relaxed we have ever encountered.
Food was, overall, excellent and the wine glasses were seldom allowed to empty.
Entertainment was limited but of a very high standard and designed to appeal to everyone's taste.
We have never before met such a friendly group of fellow passengers and would therefore rate our overall experience at 10 out of 10.
We are currently planning our next cruise with Silversea
The only negative was Mumbai - not a city for the faint hearted but an interesting experience all the same and no fault of Silversea - even our taxi to the airport was a luxury 4x4 and thankfully not a city taxi cab.
Dubai was disappointing as our tour day coincided with the National Holiday but the other ports of call were excellent - Khasab, Fujairah and Muscat still relatively unspoilt by tourism.

| Quality of Food | |
| None could be faulted and an excellent menu range to suit all. | | Entertainment | |
| Singer/comedienne, Flautist, and Violinist were all of a very high standard as was the Cruise Director. | | Shore Excursions | |
| Excursion in Khasab to Harim Mountain was my personal favourite with stunning scenery and views as a climax to an exciting 4x4 drive up steep, twisting roads to the mountain top. | | Staff | |
| All very attentive -could fault none. | | Children's Facilities | n/a |
