Silversea - Silver Whisper
Silver Whisper
The Silver Whisper was the second of the Millennium Class vessels to be constructed for Silversea Cruises and it was launched in 2001, a year after its sister ship the Silver Shadow.
These two vessels are slightly larger than their predecessors in the Silverseas fleet, but they still maintain the elegantly casual and sophisticated atmosphere that has made the other ships so popular.
Passengers travelling on the Silver Whisper can sail to a huge number of locations and popular itineraries include destinations in South America, the Caribbean and northern Europe.
A tour along the spectacular Chilean fjords can be an awe-inspiring journey, while other options include Brazil, South Africa, Mauritius, Singapore, Bangkok, Dubai, New York and Montreal.
The dress code on the Silver Whisper varies, depending on the situation. During the day, informal and smart-casual attire are usually fine. Many passengers dress up for dinner and there are a few formal nights on every voyage. In any case, dress is typically subtle and understated - the Silver Whisper isn't generally a place for flamboyance.
Ship stats and features

Food, cuisine and dining
One of the most popular dining venues on the Silver Whisper is the Pool Bar & Grill. Located, as its name would imply, poolside, this is an informal place to grab a bite to eat at any time of the day. With a number of outdoor tables, it's the perfect place for an al fresco breakfast.
At lunch time, the grill gets fired up and passengers can select from menu items like burgers, fish and seafood, while fresh pizza is also available. In the evening, the space is converted into the The Grill and meats can be cooked right at your table with a pre-heated volcanic rock.
For a traditional and more formal meal, The Restaurant is the ship's main dining area, while the most lavish venue is Le Champagne.
Other options include breakfasts served in the Observation Lounge and afternoon tea is served in the Panorama Lounge. Meanwhile, La Terrazza is the buffet and room service is available 24 hours a day.
On-board entertainment and activities
There's loads to do on the Silver Whisper and the Show Lounge is the main entertainment venue, hosting performances ranging from cabaret and concerts to comedy and even feature films. During the day, the space is also used for lectures and demonstrations.
One of the most popular public spaces on the Whisper is Connoisseur's Corner. This splendid space is reminiscent of a gentlemen's club, with Chesterfield sofas and tub chairs upholstered in top-quality leather, intimate nooks and plenty of fine cognacs.
If you'd like to catch up your emails, post updates on your favourite social networking site or even write a blog post, then the Internet Cafe is the place to go. It's fully equipped with computers, CD burners, media card readers and printing facilities, so you can get all of your computing done without any hassle.
Numerous bars and lounges are scattered around the vessel, and many of them boast live music in the evenings. Alternatively, there's a casino, a games room and a number of shops if you're looking for a bit of retail therapy.
Spas and fitness facilities
Located next to the Observation Lounge, the Spa at Silversea offers some breathtaking views - not to mention state-of-the-art facilities.
There's a fully-equipped thermal suite with a sauna and steam room, while the well-appointed treatment rooms offer a soothing ambience perfect for a hot stone massage, aromatherapy, facial, body wrap or Swedish massage.
For a bit of additional pampering, there's a full-service beauty salon where specialists can provide manicures, pedicures and hairstyling services for both men and women.
If a vigorous workout is your preferred method of relaxing, then the Fitness Centre is the place for you. Exercise classes are held throughout the day and personal trainers are also available. You could also opt for a few laps of the pool or jogging track, or play some rounds of shuffleboard or ping-pong.
Cabins
The 194 cabins on the Whisper are all suites with views, while the majority of them have balconies as well. However, the rooms aren't all the same and there are eight different price categories depending on the accommodation's size, location and amenities.
If you're looking for a cruise deal on this luxury vessel, then the Vista Suites could be a good choice. They are the smallest rooms on the ship - but at 287 square feet, they're extremely spacious. Plus, they offer plenty of plush extras like a complimentary mini-bar stocked with your favourite drinks and a large sitting area with a flat-screen television and DVD player.
For the ultimate in luxury, the Owner's Suite is the ideal option. Gorgeously decorated and equipped with fabulous features like a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a full bar and a huge bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a separate powder room, this accommodation offers everything you could possibly require. It can be configured as a single-bedroom suite, or with two bedrooms for even more space.
