In June 2008, my wife and I took our first cruise on Silversea to Alaska. The whole experience turned out to exceed all of our expectations. The service provided by all the staff was second to none and all the food was expectional. The suite was of a very high standard in both the main area & the bathroom with its shower cubicle, full length bath & double sinks. The shore trips were very well organised and all the transport (buses, rain & boats) to enable us to take full advantage of the wonderful scenery, was of a high standard. We will certainly cruise again with Silversea.

Question by Klein, Arlington (28 Jun 09 15:09) about this REVIEW
what is the dress code on Silversea to Alaska particularly the formal evenings?
Answer by Henderson, Salisbury (29 Jun 09 10:33) to a QUESTION by Klein (28 Jun 09 15:09)
On the cruise we attended the majority of people were in Dinner Jackets / Tuxedos and Evening Dresses. The rest were mainly in formal suits and cocktail dresses. We both like to dress formally for all formal nights and aim to maintain high standards in a world where in general standards seem to be continualy dropping.

Hi, I am about to book up with this ship for alaska 2011. It all seems so good, so far the liason with the booking staff is very good, we have done alaska with royal carribean, and it was excellent. is the ship and facilities as good as they state? and i agree it is nice to have good dress standards especially for this type of cruise. We have just completed a med cruise 5 star, they allowed people in t-shirts and shorts on formal nights in the restaurant! and never approached them, quite disapointing really.

Hi, Good luck with your Alaskan trip, I'm sure you will enjoy it. We were so pleased with Silversea, we went with them again this year on the Spirit, that was every bit as good. It is not a cheap cruise line but you get what you pay for. Regarding your med cruise, I would be interested to know which ship it was, so that we can avoid it.
