In General, Silversea was a pleasant experience, it was good not to have to sign off bar bills or having to worry about tips at the end of the cruise, which always caused a discussion with my wife! The staff we attentive and very pleasant. Wines we quite acceptable on the free list and the food and presentation was on the whole very good, lunches in the casual restaurant very good, if not a bit cramped.
The ship is a bit tired and the bar smells of smoke and my wife was expected to do her daily exercise program in the bar as the gym was not large enough. Could not get BBC on the TV which was a disappointment, as other news channels did not give us the info we wanted.
Embarkation was not good, other cruise lines do it better, make you feel your special as soon as you first see the sign of the cruise line, once on board, it was a warm welcome with bubbles and canopies, but boarding needs to be upgraded, same for all ports of call, other lines, did a far better welcome back. Ship in our opinion also not really cut out for rough seas, so med cruises and nice weather.
Suite was OK, butler service very useful, as long as you have a good one.
