This was a 10 day Caribbean cruise on Seabourn Pride. The idea to get away from the dull November weather in the UK. So how did it start? Wet!
The sailaway on a Seabourn cruise is always fun with on deck champagne flowing liberally. A chance to meet many of the 200 guest on board these small, but well appointed, ships. Raining? That didn't stop the British contingent on the voyage turning up at the Sky Bar and much fun was had by all.
This was an unusal cruise insofar as some 25% of the guests were British, a much higher proportion than usual on a Seabourn cruise. Add to that families from Belgium, Germany and Holland and we had quite the muli cutural crowd.
A Seabourn cruise is all about eating, drinking and making new friends and this one was no different.
Leaving Fort Lauderdale the sea (Atlantic) was not as calm as expected an turnout for dinner the first evening was down on numbers! My wife remained in our suite and I turned up at the restaurant as a singleton. No worries there. The maitre d' had a table of 8 ready for all the recently made singles. One of the real benefits of Seabourn's open dining policy.
The food was of the highest standard as is the service.
Cruising with Seabourn is a voyage of luxury and pampering. The staff have remembered passenger's names by around the third day and really do remember when you want tea with breakfast rather than coffee.
The age group was very mixes. From 30s - 90s. all great company whatever the age. Contrary to some belief, this is not a stuffy cruise with all guests mingling and looking to have an enjoyable holiday.
Service is what it is all about. We came back from a shore excursion, hot and exhusted, and headed stright to the swimming pool. It was around noon. Six of us in the pool and then appeared a waiter from the pool bar with a tray holding six glasses of champagne, unannounced. His words; 'I think you would appreciate a cool drink'. We did!
Evening entertainment is low key but some good entertainers in the show lounge. An excellent 56 piece group in the bar and also a great piano player/singer. Music for all ages but plenty of 80's music and much dancing until late.
I cannot recommend Seabourn highly enough and difficult to find any fault.

| Enjoyed David E and his Nat King Cole tribute. The female magician was a hoot but perhaps lost a little on our american friends (think Tommy Cooper).
