Seabourn - Seabourn Pride
Seabourn Pride
The first ship in the Seabourn Cruises fleet, the Seabourn Pride offers an extremely intimate and luxurious cruising experience to all of its passengers.
Built in 1988 by the Schichau-Seebeckwerft shipyard in Germany, the Pride is identical to its sister ships the Legend and Spirit. In 2005, the ship underwent a substantial refitting and refurbishment project to ensure that it maintains the high standards required to succeed in the demanding cruise market.
While the ship itself is an attractive structure, with sleek lines and an elegant profile, what really sets the vessel apart is the on-board service. Staff members are recruited from the finest hospitality schools in Europe and the difference this makes is truly remarkable.
Service with a smile is only the beginning and during your voyage, you'll enjoy the benefits of a crew that obviously take pride in their work. From greeting you with a friendly salutation to remembering your favourite drink and other personal preferences, each member of staff works hard to make you feel special and well looked after.
The Pride can often be found in the waters around Europe, with 12 and 14-night itineraries travelling to destinations in the Baltic and Mediterranean.
However, a large proportion of the ship's voyages are significantly longer, with 42, 84 and 102-night trips visiting locations that are further afield, such as Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore.

Food, cuisine and dining
Although the main dining room doesn't have a very interesting name - it's simply known as The Restaurant - there's nothing boring about the food that it serves.
The cruise line is a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs - a prominent society dedicated to promoting fine food and dining. Seabourn's culinary pursuits have won awards and the company works hard to ensure that only the freshest and best-quality ingredients are used in every meal.
Menus are designed to incorporate the local flavours of the places the ship is visiting and the highly skilled chefs expertly prepare each meal with the greatest of skill. Dinner entrees include roasted poussin, grilled filet mignon and sauteed sea scallops, while lighter meals and pasta dishes are also available. And be sure to save room for dessert - the chocolate ganache tart and apple cobbler are not to be missed!
Vegetarian options are available, as are items suitable for other special dietary needs. All meals are served on an open-seating basis, meaning that you can eat whenever, wherever and with whomever you wish.
Alternative dining venues include the Veranda Cafe, a casual buffet that's transformed into Restaurant 2 for dinner time. Room service is also available.
In addition, the Constellation Lounge serves a fabulous afternoon tea every day.
On-board entertainment and activities
Shows on the Pride are held in the Magellan Lounge, an intimate venue with small tables and comfortable chairs arranged in a semi-circle around a central stage. The stepped floor ensures good sightlines for all guests and the entire space exudes a sense of luxury.
Performances are fairly small-scale: mainly singers, bands and comedians. Musical revues are sometimes offered, as are films. The occasional game show is also hosted in this location.
The Club is a smaller venue located one deck above that sometimes hosts mini-cabaret performances. It's generally the location for late-night cocktails and there's a DJ for after-hours dancing.
Other options include the Constellation Lounge, which is situated above the navigation bridge. It offers some amazing views and is a great place to sit back and relax. Meanwhile, the Sky Bar is perfect if you want to enjoy an evening in the fresh air. Movies under the stars are also occasionally offered on the pool deck.
In the casino, you'll find a number of card tables, roulette and slot machines, and if you'd like to do a bit of shopping the boutique offers jewellery, perfumes and various other duty-free products. There's also a water-sports marina, library and a small computer centre with internet connections.
Spas and fitness facilities
The Spa at Seabourn is a great place to go for pure relaxation. It incorporates a thermal suite and a beauty salon, as well as a number of treatment rooms where you can enjoy massages, dry float and body wraps.
For a bit of exercise, the fully equipped gym includes a variety of exercise equipment, while fitness classes are held in The Club during the day.
Cabins
All of the 106 cabins on the Pride are outside suites, meaning that you can enjoy a fabulous view and plenty of space, no matter which accommodation you choose.
That said, there are still different grades of stateroom - nine to be precise - depending on the size, location and the included amenities. So whether you're seeking a cruise deal or something extremely lavish, you'll have plenty of options.
Every room comes equipped with a flat-screen TV, DVD player and a Bose Wave radio. There's also a mini bar stocked with drinks and even your favourite liquor.
