I was fortunate to be invited to see the Brand new Seabourn Ship "Seabourn Odyssey" for a 2 day taster cruise prior to her launch on 24th June. Having sailerd on Seabourn before and being a true fan of the product I was expecting something really special - AND I WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED.
The Odyssey is almost 3 times larger than the 3 smaller Seabourn sisters but carries only twice as many passengers which is something in itself when you consider that Seabourn is already 5 star. My concerns were how they could offer the same personal and understated service and wonderful food to 450 people. Well I need not have been worried because the hallmark qualities of the cruise line are perhaps even better and can only get even better when the crew settle in to their new "home away from home".
My first impressions that the ship was very modern and comtemporary which would appeal to both new Seabourn guiests and also the many past guests. The ship is laid out well and their lots of lounges and restauants to choose from which will mean that there are no concerns about crowds. Dining is in the main restaurant which is absolutely stunning or in the more casual Colonade or Restaurant 2.If you want an intimate night in you can also have dinner served in your suite course by course. Menus are delightful with so much choice and variety and the food is complimented by excellent wines which are ofcourse included.
All suites apart from the lowest deck have private verandas which is new for Seabourn and something that new to cruise guests expect. Again these are spacious and equipped with tables, chairs and sunloungers and perfect to have breakfast or relax in privacy.
New to Seabourn is the "Seabourn Square" which is like a very upmarket Hotel lobby area with a cofee shop, Internet access, library and information/shorex desks. Thsi area really works well and will be the hub of the ship with people coming and going all day. Likewise the "Spa at Seabourn" is spectacular with lots of private treatment rooms and 2 luxurious Spa Villas for you to be well and truly pampered in.

So overall I think the ship is fabulous and certainly the finest and most luxurious ship I have ever seen. It is also very understated and will appeal to the most discerning passengers looking for a truly special holiday at sea. Oh and I forgot to mention the itineraries for 2010 which are now include even more fascinating places such as India, China,Japan and the middle East plus the usual out of the way private ports in the Mediterranean and Caribbean - there is also a World cruise if you want to see more !!
I can't wait to go on another Seabourn cruise and I suggest you try one real soon.

Interesting to read your review. We have never cruised seabourne but have been offered a V1 grade port side on deck 5 on the Odyssey, seems these are some of the last available. We are told all V grades are the same, but obviously this is lower and forward. Just wandering what you think?
