Seabourn - Seabourn Odyssey
Seabourn Odyssey
Launched in 2009, the Seabourn Odyssey was the first new vessel to be built for the Seabourn Cruises line in more than ten years.
Along with its nearly-identical sister ships, the Sojourn and Quest, the Odyssey was carefully planned to provide a truly luxurious experience for its passengers - and there's no doubt that's exactly what happened.
While the ship is nearly three times larger than its predecessors in the Seabourn fleet, it only carries about twice as many passengers. This results in a space-to -guest ratio of 1.1:1 - the highest in the cruise industry.
The Odyssey travels to a huge range of destinations around the world. Popular routes include around the Mediterranean with stops in Venice, Dubrovnik, Santorini, Barcelona and Valencia.
Other itineraries include transatlantic crossings, Fort Lauderdale to Sydney via the Panama Canal and Los Angeles, Athens to Dubai, Dubai to Singapore and Singapore to Brisbane. Cruises are also available around the Adriatic, Aegean and Red Seas.
Ship stats and features

Food, cuisine and dining
The main dining area is simply called The Restaurant and it is a fabulous venue for a bite to eat throughout the day. Gorgeously decorated with flowing white fabric and sparkling chandeliers, it is both tasteful and elegant, with plenty of tables in different sizes - so you can choose to eat in a large group or at a more intimate table for two.
Menus are created by celebrity chef Charlie Palmer and feature loads of fresh, high-quality ingredients. There are plenty of healthy options like salads and fruit, as well as some indulgent favourites. Local cuisine is also taken into consideration, helping to give passengers a taste of the places they are visiting.
Alternative dining venues are also available and you'll never need to worry about for-fee dining: all of the restaurants are available without an extra charge. These include The Colonnade, Restaurant 2 and the Patio Grill.
There's a coffee bar at the Seabourn Square - the main lobby area - which serves hot drinks, as well as sandwiches, pastries and other snacks. Meanwhile, the Observation Bar offers a continental breakfast and The Club hosts high tea in the afternoons. Room service is available 24 hours a day.
On-board entertainment and activities
If you want to take in a show or two, the Grand Salon is the place to go. It typically plays host to cabaret acts and Las Vegas revues, as well as comedy performances.
The seats are not traditional theatre-style chairs, but rather sofas and tub chairs in small groups surrounding cocktail tables, making the space an extremely comfortable place to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Alternative options in the evenings include the Observation Bar, which becomes a piano and cocktail bar after the sun goes down, while The Club is the place to go for dancing. There's also a casino if you're feeling lucky.
During the day, there are various enrichment programmes and some small competitions. In addition, there's a retractable marina where guests can borrow kayaks, paddleboats and wind-surfboards or try waterskiing or banana boat rides in some warm water ports.
Spas and fitness facilities
Spread over two decks, the Spa at Seabourn is a vast facility that measures 11,500 square feet and it's sure to have everything you need to feel truly pampered and rejuvenated during your holiday.
Just some of the options available include saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and a thalassotherapy pool. Indoor and outdoor treatment rooms are available, giving you the chance to enjoy a massage or body wrap in the fresh air or in a luxurious indoor space.
If you prefer to relieve stress with some vigorous exercise, a fitness suite is provided with plenty of cardio and resistance machines and there's a studio where group classes are held.
And for a bit of extra indulgence, a beauty salon is also available.
Cabins
All of the 225 rooms on the Odyssey are classified as suites because they have a separate seating area and bedroom. Every room has an ocean view, while 90 per cent have balconies.
That said, the rooms aren't all the same and there are 13 different price ranges that vary by location, size and amenities. This wide range of accommodation allows guests to select an option that suits their requirements and budget - whether they're seeking exclusive cruise deals or something a bit more opulent.
For the ultimate in luxury, the Wintergarden Suites are a great option. There are two of these, each of which measure 1,182 square feet and have two bedrooms. Most significantly, however, they have a private glassed-in solarium with a soaking tub and day bed - creating the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view, even when the weather's not perfect.
No matter which room you select, you'll enjoy a private bathroom, a large flat-screen television with a DVD player and a fully-stocked mini-bar. Other extras include personalised stationery, a world atlas and a large walk-in closet.
