We have cruised with Seabourn many times before and have celebrated Wedding Anniversaries on board before but this was our 35th Anniversary so we wanted it to be really special. It was our Coral Anniverary and it seemed apt to spend it on a cruise.

We have done transatlantic cruises before and particularly like the sea days. After a leisurely breakfast with friends at the Verandah on board Seabourn Legend we would sit up on the 8th deck and do the crossword and stare at the sea and wait for the ship to come alive with people jogging or on their way to breakfast. The feeling of camaraderie with both the crew and passengers is always wonderful. The ships are only small with 208 passengers you soon get to know people onboard. On this particular cruise there were 70% repeat passengers and a lot of them were known to us.

One of our favourite pastimes is the daily quiz which is always well frequented and keenly fought over. After that it was lunch in the diningroom and then either a nap in our suite or a read or chat on deck. Hours passed so quickly and it was time to get ready for dinner and meet friends in the Club Bar before hand. Entertainment was always low key and not intrusive though many nights we just went to the Sky Bar for a nightcap and to look at the stars.

The service on Seabourn is amazing. Crew know your name straightaway, know your favourite drink and one one occasion when we did not eat dinner in the diningroom knew we had opted for a meal in Restaurant 2 and sent my husband's favourite french wine along with asking. We have never come across such friendly crew as on Seabourn and have made firm friends with many of them, seeing them being promoted or engaged and married.

While the attention of the crew was amazing we did have some problems with the food served in the dininroom. The food is under the patronage of Charlie Palmer and many of the menus are too complicated with too many flavours. The Seabourn Chefs are talented in their own right and more than capable of putting together an amazing menu. If you make a special order for dinner which you can 24 hours before they really come into their own and prepare exactly what you would like.

A highlight of the cruise was the crew tug of war between the different factions, bar team, housekeeping etc. It is great to see the young crew all letting off steam and thoroughly enjoying themselves and it is great entertainment for the passengers.

I'm sure if I thought about it I could come up with something to criticise but it would be petty to do this. Overall the experience was a wonderful one and we thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversary Meal in the restaurant. The special chocolate cake went uneaten in the diningroom as we were too full but we donated it to some of the crew later that night.

We have booked again for a Seabourn Legend cruise next year. We do go on other cruise lines but Seabourn is always the one to return to.

Hi, thanks for posting the review. We are taking our first Seabourn cruise on the Spirit in June and this sounds wonderful. Just one question, you mention the food being too complex, are you able to get somthing plainer,a steak or chicken if the food is too fancy for every night? If not I'm sure we will manage Regards Pat
