This was our first time on Seabourn. Having been recommended by our travel agent we decided to couple this 7 night cruise with a french holiday we had already booked. Flying into Barcelona we spent one night in the Meridien, where a Seabourn rep welcomed us and went through boarding details and available excursions. On a blowy day we were taken to the ship[via most of the port - hilarious the driver took us to every size ship possible before catching on it was quite a small affair]. Superb welcome aboard, so very proffessional but not inthe least stuffy. I could hardly believe the size of our cabin, we had booked late and only the lower deck ones were available. No need to worry as their lowest grade is bigger that most superior balcony cabins and very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space and a huge bed and a delightful and competent steward who made us welcome. Sailing off, it was rather rocky as it is small and it was very windy, which meant I was glad of my patch! A delightful dinner in the less formal dining area where one could have breakfast and lunch also. The following days, a port a day passed far too quickly and have left me with the urge to spend time on their latest vessel which is a good deal bigger. Naturally I wonder if they can give such fabulous service with a greater passenger number.
We are looking for a suitable ship to do a world cruise on, now that P&O have become carnivalised, which we had thought we would go on -Aurora- if that is brought back to its former standards then fine but otherwise we will have to find another vessel and we will not go out of Southampton

As for Seabourn I cannot give them high enough marks for a fabulous time and the best word for the entire seven days is BLISS.

Your trip on Seabourn sounds lovely, althoughI have seen a couple of seabourn ships in med ports, and I have also studied what few photos I have found, and Seabourn ships do not seem to have a prom deck at all, and have very little deck space either, as most of the usable upper deck space seems to be in the middle of the ship around the pool like most of the smaller American ships. which I feel might be a little claustrophobic. Apart from the size of the ship I'll bet you had a wonderful time with good service and super food, but what is wrong with Southampton? we have always enjoyed the ride down the Solent

Maybe for some people it's just too long a journey to Southampton. Have to say being from the North East, I wouldn't want to travel that far.

Would you kindly give me details of the 'patch' - I asked my GP about these and she 'poo pooed' my question saying that she had never heard of them and they would probably cost me an arm and a leg anyway. The chemist could not give them to me as they are prescription only so I am getting to the end of my tether as we sail on our first cruise at the beginning of September. Any information would be gratefully received (ASAP)

The patches are called 'SCOPODERM' - look them up on Google ! Private prescription needed from your Doc.!

As a resident of Southampton, may I ask why you won't go out of Southampton?

You obviously like the smaller classy ships; you could do the world cruise on regent's Seven Seas Voyager or Mariner. These are all suite/balcony cabins, the food is wonderful and price all inclusive, including excursions. These two ships carry only 700 something passengers yet the ship is just a little smaller than Aurora- allowing the cabins to be really spacious; and the ship very stable.

I think we put in a good word for Seabourn not long ago a month or so! They are always good to superb, you will not go wrong with them unless you are looking for West End shows. You will have the chance to meet the officers and entertainers who are often English or Canadian. The staff are always friendly and I am confident the larger ships will be as good!
