Travelling with a ten year old boy, who was looking forward to the time we were going to spend in Orlando at Universal Studios, it was with trepidation that we embarked upon Royal Caribbean's 'Liberty of the Seas'. Any worries we had were quickly dispensed with, as the children's activity programme kept our son entertained, as did the fantastic swimming pools/water park and, of course, the Wave Rider! Full marks to RC for providing evening activities for kids, as this gave my husband and I some time alone - a rare commodity! He made lots of friends and had a whale of a time.
We opted for an Inside cabin as we prefer to spend the money saved elswhere. The cabin was adequate for our needs - although a little cramped when all three of us were trying to get ready in the evenings. The pull down bed was always made up for our son on our return to our cabin.
Our main complaint would be the huge queues encountered when trying to disembark when visting ports - we gave up on one occasion and stayed on board - but I suppose this is to be expected when the shop carries so many passengers.
As fish eating vegetarians we were always well catered for and the menu choice was extensive - if we did not like something our waiter would glady bring another dish.
Excursions were expensive - we tended to do our own thing. Our son loved the water park activities on the Royal Caribbean owned beach on Haiti - the jet ski rides were great, but plagued (understandably) by very poor local people trying to sell their wares.
Can't stand the Casino - where people were allowed to smoke - nor the call to Bingo! Howeever, lots of Americans in particular would beg to disagree.
The ice show was fantastic - I went twice! The theatre shows were not of such a good standard, but passed the time quite enjoyably.
All the staff were lovely - a little put upon at times though I felt and perhaps a little harassed - not as good as our previous staff experience with 'Celebrity'.
Personally I would have liked a few more things to do in thd day - quizzes, more up-to-date films, demonstrations - but my husband, who enjoys sunbathing and the gym was perfectly happy!
Would definitely travel with RC again - especially for my son (though I did prefer Celebrity's ambiance adn smaller sixe, if I am honest).
Quality of Food4
Fantastic choice for breakfast in the Windjammer - dinner in the main restaurant was always served promptly.

The ice show was marvellous - highly recommended.
Shore Excursions2
Queues to disembark were ridiculous at times - especially with a child in tow.

Excellent waiter in main dinning room - took time to chat to us.
Children's Facilities4
Our ten year old son really enjoyed this cruise and the freedom it gave him.
Onboard Activities2
Not always my cup of tea and somewhat dominated by very loud Americans!
