Independence of the Seas

OVERVIEW: This ship’s ‘wow’ factor is its connection with water in the design of a dramatic water theme park on the pool deck – recommended for families with children. It is now based year-round in the UK for cruises from Southampton, although the onboard currency remains the US dollar, which makes

Very well organised ship

Reviewed By: on
This ship is HUGE 4.800 people,When we got to S/hampton there were a lot of people waiting to board but it only took 1hr 10min that was parking the car, getting shuttle bus to ship, getting luggage labels and going through X-ray machines,it was so well organised,we were amazed,we have only been on smaller ships before and waited a lot longer than this to board,
Cabins=We had an inside cabin which was very big with a 7ft wide bed,the bed was beautiful it was like a feather you never wanted to get up,best bed we have ever had in the world, cabin was very bright and decoration was lovely
Restaurants=The Windjammer is very large and serves all day till around 9pm all buffet
We ate in Romeo & Juliet Food was ok but like all ships on long cruises a bit repetive, the waiters were all very very good
and went out of their way to make you feel at home
We also went to Portofino Restaurant you do have to pay £20 supp but well worth it it was excellant, there is also a Hamburger bar with a £5 supp each, we didnt like that one no taste in the food
also a cafe in the (street)which was open till about 3am theydid nice snacks and you watch the world walk by,
Loved all the hot tubs but not many people used them which was fine so some nights we spent quite a few hrs in them
Lots of activities through out,the shows and the ice show were extremly good
We didnt go on any excursions, has we had been the the ports in the past and at Rome,Florence,Naples we arranged to be picked up at ship,a driver and car which we had for the 3 dys
you can see far more this way than on a excursion
We were not looking forward to going on a ship this size, has we thought that at every port we would be queueing to get off and the same to board again,we NEVER had a problem at any port ,just walked off on back on again
It seems to be a very happy ship through out
Its so well organised,we will definatly be using them again
