my wife and I are regular cruisers and completely in love with this style of travel.no hassle, stress free and no flying. we needed a break and looked no further than the royal carribean and the independance of the seas.and a 10 day cruise to the canaries. the ship is very large we prefer slightly smaller ships but it was very well designed and easy to find your way around. the decor in the cabins was brilliant and so was the cabin service. we have sailed on a lot of different cruise lines and royal carribean have been consistently good. the entertainment on board was superb especially the ice skating.there was so much for the kids to do we hardly noticed them.the ports of call were interseting as we had not been to the canaries before and r.c.provided lots of information and choice of trips.the food as always is tasty and well presented.the shopping mall and drinking bars were a little excessive to our taste but people were enjoying them.all in all this was a very well run cruise with a lot to do and see and very good value.we will not hesitate to sail with .c. again.

We are going on Independance in June but have opted to go by train to Southhampton rather than drive down from Durham. Does anyone know how far it is to walk to the station at Southampton ship with cases pulled along . I dont want to get a taxi if its 400 yards. thanks in advance

I went to Southampton Central by train, I could actually see the top of the ship from the station but used a taxi as it was no hassle. 5 mins in taxi £4 well worth the actual £5 I paid.
