My husband and I took a cruise to the Caribbean from Port Canaverel as we were visiting the USA for five weeks. We really had a great time on Freedom of the Seas and visited St. Thomas, St. Marteen and Coco Cay in the Bahamas. We had been to St. Thomas before so took a trip to nearby St. John's to the ecological park which was really interesting and we had a great driver who kept us all amused and happy.
Freedom of the Seas proved an excellent choice although from our point of view we felt the ship's capacity was too large. Unfortunately, we did not realise it but we had picked American half-term week so there were 1,000 children on the trip! Nevertheless, we had a balcony cabin so if necessary we could get away when we wanted to.
We had a dining table for 6 so had plenty of conversation and interaction with them and the waiting staff which was excellent. The shows in the evenings were really good with some top class performers.
On one day the ship had a burst pipe so we were without water in the cabins for about 5 hours. It only affected cabins from deck 7 upwards so we were able to use the public facilities on other decks. It obviously was not Royal Caribbean's fault but they generously refunded 300 dollars between us for the inconvenience which we thought was more than they needed to do.

Good Morning Please can you advise me? My husband and I are travelling on this cruise in June and I have been told by friends that my husband shouldn't take a dinner suit as hardly anyone wears them and a dark lounge suit will suffice, please can you tell me your experience of this?, also should I take long evening gowns or more cocktail dresses? This is our first cruise and we are really looking forward to it.
Thank you very much
