DISAPPOINTING ITINERARY

The Cruise part of the holiday was fine, no problems with the ship, the staff, entertainment, food etc but the itinerary needs attention. The first port of call Oman (Muskat) the problem was the port was named Morkar ( I think) Muscat was a tour away or a half hour taxi ride, very misleading. The second port of call Fujeriah if I said there was nothing there I would be doing it a favour, the high point being the refuelling of the ship (I think the reason for the ship calling there) not many people left the ship. Then came Abu Dhabi a beautiful place even better than Dubai (because it appears to be finished) another day there would have been good. Then came Bahrain by which time the word had escaped that there was not much there, consequently not many went on the tours. Dubai is fine plenty to do and see but if this had been our first cruise it would most certainly have been our last.

We sailed on this cruise in March and thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary. We went on shore excursions in Oman where we enjoyed visiting the mosque, the museum and souk, in Fujairah where we took the East Coast tour which was a very scenic drive through the mountains and to a large outdoor market. In Bahrain admittedly we were a little disappointed with the tour and the tour guide (we have mentioned it to Royal Caribbean) but friends on other tours had enjoyed them and we just chose the wrong tour on the day. As we visit Dubai regularly we enjoyed staying on board whilst in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We loved the ship and all it offered and are full of praise for the food and service in the Dining Room and also in the Windjammer. Bearin in mind that ports are often situated a distance away from the main town centres it is not surprising that, if you decide to stay on board in port, you cannot complain if all there is to see is activity in the port. We will certainly cruise with Royal Caribbean again.
Question by Maloney, Worksop (29 Mar 10 17:11) about a COMMENT by Coates (17 Mar 10 22:40)
We are going on this cruise 05/04. Pleased to hear your comments about the Fujairah trip, this is the one we have booked. As there have been a lot of negative comments about this stop I was worried about booking a trip here but felt it was unlikely that we would go there again so wanted to see something of it. Which trips have you heard a good report of in Bahrain ? We can't decide what to do there. Again we would at least like to get off the ship and see something.
