As first time travellers we were not sure what to expect while crusing the Southern Caribbean. I must say that we were pleasantly suprised. Adventure of the Seas is a very large modern ship that is superbly fitted out, offering a wide choice of food, drinks and entertainment. There was so much to do that we never quite got to do or see it all on board ship.
Our balcony stateroom was very comfortable and well equipped apart from the continous air conditioning which wasn't a problem at 86 degrees through the night.
The staff were very courteous and respectful making us feel very welcome.
The cruise was a very pleasant experience and as 1st timers we are already looking to book for next year.
The one draw back was the flight connections. Edinburgh to London to Miami through Terminal 5 at Heathrow was fine however a delay of 50 minutes leaving London resulted in us hitting Miami late with 2 hours allowed to connect for San Juan. Considering immigration and baggage reclaim then this time allowed was never enough never mind the delay. We finally got to San Juan about 5 hours late with no baggage and losing our evening in the hotel. The baggage finally turned up late Sunday afternoon on ship before departure meaning we had the same clothes on for 40 hours. Returning via JFK in New York again due to delays our baggage was lost as we arrived in Edinburgh finally turning up next day. We are waiting on a response from Royal caribbean to our query on flights with no reply yet.
Apart from the baggage issues the RCI Cruise was fantatstic and we are now considering a Mexican Riviera trip from LA next year as it looks better value thatn a jaunt around the Med.
