We sailed on Regent Seven Seas Voyager and can only describe this style of cruising as superb. It really is 6 star luxury from the moment you arrive at the ship to the moment you leave. The ship oozes class. The cabins are all suites with balconies and compare to any top class hotel with marble bathrooms including a bathtub and shower and high quality bed linen.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and even though you think it should be because the cost of this type of cruise is higher, the staff seem genuinely pleased to help. They were all attentive without ever being intrusive. Our cruise had 580 guests on and the staff numbered 440 - even when the ship is full with 700, I doubt whether you would ever notice as there is so much space (no inside cabins means cabin space is large). Space and quietness are major factors which you really notice - in all areas of the ship. Also, you do not have to queue or wait for anything. A good example is that my wife & I went on one of the tenders to Sorrento and we were the only 2 people on that tender - that is the level of service. Check in is onboard and the organisation meant that the process took about 3 minutes.
The restaurants all served excellent food - beautifully presented - and even with 3, 4 or 5 courses, the quantity of food was just right. The ship is all-inclusive with very good wines always served. You can choose to eat any time between 6.30pm and 9pm in the main restaurant 'Compass Rose' and the 24 hour room service orders were generally turned around in about 15 mins. If you want to eat in the specialty restaurants 'Signatures' & 'Latitudes' you MUST book this before you go as they fill up almost immediately. The food again is superb.
We met some great people on board, all friendly and delighted with the experience - we did not hear one complaint - just praise for the ship, staff, food, entertainment and quality of the surroundings. Even though it rained most of the time and we were caught in quite a bad storm, it made no difference to the overall enjoyment aboard.
Having previously cruised with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Carnival & NCL - which were all very nice cruises - if you can afford to do so, I would highly recommend the extra to cruise in this style - it really is understated luxury and the attention to detail is unrivalled.
