Have just returned from a lovely cruise around the Greek Islands from Athens to Istanbul. Excellent cruise line. We felt the balance just perfect, luxurious but relaxed. Regent is all inclusive and this aspect certainly made us relax. The food was consistently good with the exception of the Signatures Restaurant. The cuisine was not exceptional and the service fussy and pretentious. Prime 7 is much better and the Compass Rose has a varied and interesting menu each day. The Verandah is fine for breakfast and lunch. Not recommended for Dinner. The wine is of a good standard. Suite 1037 was perfect for 10 days. Bathroom very well equipped. The ship is very attractive and a perfect size for us. There were approx 500 Americans and 200 from other countries mainly Brits, French and Germans. Excursions are included and were good. Ephesus was amazing and Rhodes Old Town a pleasant surprise. The only negative point is that the itinerary is destination intensive and as virtually all of the excursions are early in the morning, it can be tiring. However, we knew this at the time of booking. We must be getting old. Will definitely travel with Regent again but without our 14 year old son. Regent do not cater for teenagers. They do not try to cater for them and I would not recommend Regent for children/teenagers generally. This is not a criticism, just a fact. There are plenty of cruise lines more suitable to younger cruisers. We are taking a Celebrity cruise next year and I am sure this will be more suitable.
