This was our 2nd Regent cruise and we were a little concerned that the Navigator, being a small ship would not have the same level of comfort as the bigger ships. How wrong we were, from the moment we boarded in Miami all thoughts of ship size disappeared, one could easily have been on a far bigger liner, everything was equal, if not better than the larger vessels. There was a feeling of spaciousness and the champagne greeting was very well received. Staff were wonderful and helpful, no waits for any of the on-board facilities and the food was up to the Regent standard. Elvis at the pool bar must take the crown for his customer service and his superb afternoon rum punches and champagne cocktails. He also deserves an Oscar for the stage performance of his rock and roll namesake at the last night staff variety show.
It was nice to see a Captain and senior crew who made frequent visits to the public areas and stop to chat with the passengers, this is something one rarely sees on the bigger ships.
With so few passengers it was an extremely friendly atmosphere and we made some great new friends and cabin parties were frequent and well attended. However, we did miss the friends we found on the previous Voyager cruise.
Shore excursions generally quite good although, for some there may been too many trips where boating was involved, fine for those who are able to swim but a better selection of land based excursions would be advisable.
We only encountered one problem when we were some hours late getting into port as we had to divert to go to the assistance of a yacht in distress. This resulted in a number of excursions being cancelled but the Captain had no alternative.
All in all we had a super cruise and cannot wait for our next Navigator cruise on 18th November 2013.
