This was our first cruise & Seabourn was as good as we had been told. It is difficult to fault anything. Tips were included as was all food & drink - it was difficult to pace oneself! The service in all sections was exceptional - staff were friendly but not familiar, attentive but not overwhelming. The cabin ("suite") was roomy, quiet & seemed to include all your requirements (TV, DVD, CD, safe, well stocked fridge, walk-in wardrobe & plenty of other storage space, shower & bath, comfortable beds & seating). It was serviced twice a day and kept in immaculate order. The Veranda Cafe was a beautiful outdoor setting at the back of the boat for breakfast & lunch with very extensive cold & hot buffet supplemented with daily specials cooked to order. A "Taster" menu was available here in the evening and meals on deck (eg, a barbeque) were arranged fairly frequently. However, we used the main restaurant in the evening which offered very interesting menus together with classic dishes always available as well & had a very nice atmosphere. They took even more trouble for the Captain's dinner and the Chef's dinner. In addition, you could request anything you might fancy for any meal as long as you gave them a little notice (mention at dinner something you might want for lunch the next day). Tea was also available but we did not partake. You could have any meal in your cabin of course. Generally the quality of food and cooking was good to excellent. There was a very pleasant cocktail bar where we had a pre-dinner drink with canapes and music (pianist and singer). After dinner you could return to the cocktail bar, go to the sun deck bar, go to the Midnight Sun Lounge to listen to classical guitar or go to the Club to enjoy a singing duo or (on several occasions) a show performed by all the resident entertainers. This was also the venue for any receptions that were being hosted by the captain. A full range of shore excursions was on offer but we cannot comment as we did not use them. We enjoyed simply going ashore to look round wherever we were docked. On the 2 days we had to tender the arrangements were excellent with a frequent service available all day and iced drinks and snacks ready on shore should you want them before going back on board. The Marina day (back of the ship open to the sea) was great fun with sea water swimming, canoes, pedaloes, motor boats, banana boat, water ski-ing available. What was impressive was the attention to safety that was apparent throughout this event. The sunbathing arrangements were very good with anything you might need for your comfort - pool. jacussi, deck games. It was peaceful and spacious and there was a very attentive bar service - you could go up to order but a waiter came round constantly with iced water and fruit punches or to take your orders. They even brought cold cloths when it got particularly hot. Many people also enjoyed a snack meal here. A boutique, book and DVD library and full Spa services were also available. One of the reasons we went on Seabourn is because we wanted a small intimate boat and did not regret it. My wife was unsure about going on a cruise because she is prone to seasickness and was aware of the motion of the ship but coped fine. We might, in future, book a cabin on a lower deck since they are all exactly the same in size and furnishing and might feel more stable to her. From the moment we were welcomed aboard with a glass of champagne to the moment we left with attentive porters dealing with the luggage we enjoyed every minute and felt that nothing was too much trouble for the staff to provide.
