After some 10+ cruises over the years this Xmas/New Year cruise ( for 29 days ) on Oceana was our first dip in the water with P&O and we do but wonder ' what took us so long '. This cruise was excellent - the best we have done - and we are already booked on a similar cruise with Azura in December 2010 and are really looking forward to it.

Important criteria for my wife and I are good food and good entertainment and Oceana really came up trumps. The food was excellent as to variation, presentation and taste. I can get quite grumpy if I don't like the food but I was as happy as a sandboy - my wife was pleased that I was satisfied and that made her enjoyment of the cruise so much better. The entertainment was also excellent with the in-house revue company the best we have seen in our years of cruising. All the facilities we enjoyed on Oceana were very good and I would recommend P&O to any one.

A memorable evening was New Years Eve - a rainforest of streamers on the Lido Deck and another was ' a sailaway ' with a sister ship Ventura alongside - some 5,000+ passengers singing away and waving Union Jack flags was just like being in the Albert Hall for Last Night of the Proms. ........ Marvellous !

The flights to and from Barbados were good, comfy and complimentary drinks as well --- very nice. Boarding procedures were good and the inside cabin we had on Deck 9 was comfortable, reasonably spacious and well furnished. One little drawback was the noise that came through the ducting and the music/singing came through from the Winner's Bar on Deck 8 and Tiffany's on Deck 7 --- but nothing is perfect. Evening activity ceases in these bars at 00.45 hours so you could regard the melodies as a ' lullaby ' period with your bed-time coffee. !

We did not bother with the excursions in the Caribbean as we had done it all before on previous cruises - but on the US element of the cruise we enjoyed the trip to NASA in Cape Canaveral and the trolley ride around Key West.

All in all an excellent cruise and we much look forward to more of the same with Azura at the end of this year. We do Ocean Village in June 2010 - but from then onwards it will be P&O and we will choose cruises from the rest of the fleet. I doubt that the other cruise lines will see our custom again .

Happy cruising to one and all - go P&O !
