My husband, myself, daughter and son-in-law sailed from Southampton to New York on 4th January 2010 on Cunard's Queen Victoria. This was our first experience of cruising and one which we should certainly wish to repeat. The ship was superb, luxurious in every sense of the word. Our stateroom cabin was well appointed with an ocean view, not obscured by the lifeboats as were some of them. It was spacious with a super kingsize bed and seating area, flat screen tv braodcasting every morning the days events and shower/toilet facilities equal to any four star hotel. Our steward was friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. We chose to eat in The Britannia Restaurant for all meals being served by pleasant and friendly waiters, again nothing too much trouble. Unfortunately there was an outbreak of a tummy bug whilst on the cruise but the staff did all they possibly could to contain this and we were not troubled at all. We were at sea for eight days and I was a little dubious thinking I may be bored - not so. Plenty to do on board ranging from golf driving range, cinema, spa, outdoor pool (although a little chilly for this!) ballroom dancing lessons, quizzes, demonstrations and lectures to name but a few. On arrival in New York we disembarked with ease and speed and had a wonderful 2 days sightseeing before our flight home.

We were very dissapointed with Cunard when we cruised with them last year, the staff were not so nice and it looked a bit like a scene from the 30s looking at a crowd of fools wandering about with black suits and white bow ties. Not for us, once only thanks.

Hi, I enjoyed reading your review. I have been on the Queen Victoria once, but unfortunately it was the one "called the curse of camilla "as it was only the second voyage, and we experienced many problems. I agree with Malcom Oliver, we are going on the Queen Mary 2 for the third time soon, its in my opinion perfect!
