We cruised on Celebrity Summit Concierge Class for our 40th wedding anniversary in October last year. We have cruised with Celebrity three times before but mainly cruise with Royal Caribbean.

Having read different reviews before going on our mediterranean cruise we really didn't know what to expect of Summit but we were pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful ship and very clean. We had an aft cabin on deck 9 which was superb and having concierge was an added bonus having champange on arrival, priority boarding, flowers and fruit in cabin and daily hors d'oeuvres. It was a very spacious cabin with an enormous balcony which had two sunbeds, two chairs and a good sized table. It was such a wonderful balcony and we had breakfast on balcony every morning.

We had our Dinner in the evening in the main restaurant but on one occasion we dined in the Normandie Restaurant which was first class with wonderful food and fine wines.

The shows we did attend were very good but as we have cruised on a number of occasions we find the shows quite repetitive.

Being Diamond Members with RCCL gives you access to Michael's Club which was just wonderful. It was open every evening between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and you could have anything to drink that you wished, champagne, wine, spirits, beers etc. It really was excellent and superb staff who would always chat with you.

I would say the staff on the Summit were first class, very polite and attentive at all times.

We would certainly think about cruising again with Celebrity as there definitely is a more relaxing, quiet ambience around and lots of sunbeds for everyone which is a real bonus. With RCCL everything does seem more boisterous and loud. On saying that we do enjoy the hustle and bustle you get on RCCL ships too and we love the added bonus on some of RCCL ships of having the street to wander up and down.

Our cruise on Summit was our first Mediterranean cruise as we normally cruise transatlantic or the Caribbean which are much more relaxing as you have so manhy sea days but on saying that it was nice to visit places like Athens, Istanbul, Rome, Naples, Venice etc and what an experience. Just not so relaxing as you are in port most days.

We booked a couple of trips with Celebrity which were very well organised but on the whole we found it just as easy to do our own thing and also much less expensive.

Quality of Food4
The food was very good. I would say we eat very well and there is always a fabulous selection.
Entertainment4
We enjoyed all shows we went to see.
Shore Excursions4
Again the excursions we arranged with Celebrity were very good especially in Athens as I don't think it is so easy to do on your own.
Staff5
Our cabin staff were first class and couldn't do enough for us.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities4
There was plenty to keep us as busy as we wanted to be.
Cabins5
It certainly did. It was an aft concierge balcony cabin and was superb.

Glad you enjoyed it - we love Summit, too. What did you make of the food in the main dining room - was it always as hot as you'd like? There were occasions when we had to send dishes back for this reason.

We were on the Summit November 2007, never had a problem with food not being hot, we are going on the Constellation end March, hope it's as good. The Summit to us was what cruising is all about in every way.
