This was a fiftieth birthday celebration cruise and the average age on board was probably ten years older than this (though some were younger and came as families). We had inside cabins which were fine - spending little time in them and the weather and view not really warranting a balcony in our opinion. We were in the Brittania restaurant and found the food, service and ambiance superb, though wine was expensive. We also particularly enjoyed the chart room bar, and the shows each evening. With nothing to do but eat and relax time passed easily, and the sea only once seemed to defy its consistent "moderate" rating.

Entertainment for our son aged 12yrs in the childrens club was disappointing and didn't extend much beyond electronic games which didn't hold his interest. he had looked forward to art classes and theatre groups, but this didn't really materialise, and staff in the children clHb demonstrated little interest while he was there in much beyond bead threading. We also felt that the shops and swimming pools were poor.

But the service, splendour and overall experience was quite exceptional, and sailing in to New York and watching the sun come up over Manhattan at 5.30am was absolutely unforgettable. If you get the chance, sail on the Queen Mary and you will not be disappointed. Six days at sea was long enough for us, but we do look forward to doing a different trip again in the future to a different destination.
Quality of Food5
Britannia restaurant
Entertainment4
We enjoyed all the entertainment but Emma Sinclair was perhaps the best
Shore Excursionsn/a
Staff5
Cabin attendant Melissa was very attentive and the entertainment manager was very skilled and worked hard
Children's Facilities1
The children facilities had little to offer our 12 year old son
Onboard Activities4
There was a wide range of activities for "seniors" available and the daily commodores address took on the significance of the Queens speech at Christmas!
Cabins4
All fine
