Having read the bad reviews about this cruise, we were not sure what to expect. However from embarkation to disembarkation everything went smoothly, and we had a fantastic time. I really don't know what some people expect. Admittedly we did have to hunt for a table each time we used the Garden Cafe, but really only used it for breakfast, and sometimes at lunchtime. However, the food there was excellent. For our evening meal we used either the Tzar's Palace or the Azura, and never had to wait for a table. The food in both restaurants was excellent, with a different menu each evening. We enjoyed all the entertainment very much. We only had an inside cabin, but there was plenty of room. The excursions were expensive, but no more expensive than on any other cruise line. We only did 2 excursions, one in St. Petersburg, and one in Stockholm. In all other ports it was really easy to get round, using the open-topped city bus, which you could hop on and off as many times as you wanted. All ports we visited accepted euros. The only things we did not agree with was the 17% service charge on drinks, but don't think we could much about that, also the $12 per person per day service charge automatically added to our on board account. However, on the last day at sea we requested that this be taken off, and there was no problem, we just had to complete a form, stating that we wanted to tip staff individually. All in all we had a great holiday, made so much better by the excellent weather we had, and I would recommend this cruise to anyone who wants a freestyle cruise, and see some wonderful cities.
