just travelled on the ventura from the 12th to the 26th june, arrived at the port to a bit of chaos the car parking company were struggling to clear the cars so there was a fair delay, once inside the terminal everything seemed to go well, first impressions of the boat were good it was nice and roomy, our room was lovely the idea of having a walkin wardrobe was excellent, the buffet dining room the waterside was very busy in the mornings for breakfast the serving area seemed much smaller than the oceana and with far more people on the ventura it was pretty chaotic, the evening meals in the bay resturant were good but you had to wait a fair time between courses. We tried the american diner on a couple of occaisions and the food was fantastic and the service excellentThe shows on board were very good and the arena was a perfect venue for a late night show,we found havana a bit of a waste of time it seemed wherever you sat you couldnt see the artist and had to rely on watching the show from the numerous tvs dotted around the venue which to us seemed pointless.the british bar on board was excellent there was plenty of room and plenty of seats but late in the evenings it tended to be verry busy as did all the entertainment venues.Getting on and off the ship at the various ports was very well organised and we didnt have to wait long at all which was really good concidering the size of the ship.,the only gripe we had was when we got back to southampton we were in the first batch of people off the boat and there seemed no control at all people were coming from all directions pushing and shoving several announcments were maded to keep the staircases clear but there was no one there to enforce what was happening, overall we had a good holiday especially after reading all the negative comments about the ship,we still personally prefer the oceana basically because its smaller and more friendly.Lastly the thing which concerned us most was the fact that when we got on board we were told there had been a serious outbreak of niovirus on the previous cruise for the first few days we were served in every resturant and asked to use the hand cleaning solution whenever you entered a resturant, this laxed after the first few days whenever we have been with po before we werent allowed into the buffet without using ther solution but again there was no-one on ventura to enforce this and a large number of people were just walking in and out of the buffet without cleaning there hands.

I was also on this cruise and has a great time. I agree with the comment made however we tried the Freedom dining option in the cinnamon restaurant and found this to be a great option. We never had to wait to be seated as we were happy to share a table.

I think that comparing the % of passengers to the % of crew who contract the virus would tell a different story. In P&O's defence, in my experience they are generally better at enforcing the santisation. We were onboard Celebrity Millennium after an outbreak on the previous cruise and they seemingly had little emphasis on the hygeine when enetering restaurants too. Having said that, it's great to hear that better reviews are coming in from Ventura. Glad that you enjoyed it overall.

Another outbreak of nvovirus on Ventura. We cruised the Ventura around the Caribbean in March, and guess what! we had an outbreak of the virus as well, likewise we were served by staff in the buffet for a number of days. Perhaps P&O should look beyond guests personal hygiene and consentrate on the rules and procedures governing their staff. We saw many lapses by the staff.
