I was on this cruise with my 2 unruly children, they are 9 & 11 years old, we took them out of school because they were free, as we are total chavs and hate to spend money unnecessarily ...... would'nt you just like to say that to someone !!!
I seriously would like to say that this being our 4th cruise (1st with Princess and last) my children have total freedom around the ship, because it's THEIR holiday too. They thouroughly enjoyed making new friends, they love getting off at every port of call and seeing new things, they love getting dressed up in tuxedos and dresses and most of all the love the independance a cruise gives them, because in this day and age on the streets they don't have much of it because of the society we live in.
We chose Grand Princess because they openly publish that it is the family friendliest of their fleet .... how wrong that was, this cruise was full of mainly old and ignorant people whom did nothing but moan and groan about the kids, the lack of entertainment, the fact the buffet was always busy, the list goes on and on.
Shame on you people, for some families who take advantage of a free offer is because that will be their only chance of being able to afford a cruise/holiday, so what right do you have to judge.
I'm ashamed that my children have to grow up with you as their elders, because you certainly do not set any standards.

Just reviewing some old GP reviews - totally agree with your comments...we have taken our two kids (now aged 9 and 14) on many cruises and they are always well behaved and polite..unlike the self-centred , highly pretentious (one cruise after retirement and they are sudden experts!!!) older passengers
The amount of times I saw ignorance, rudeness to staff and other passengers and blatent disregard for other passengers was unbelievable..give me a bunch of kids any day....to the rest of them...book a SAGA or a coach holiday !!!

Hello Booth or anyone out there-were you on this ship when she "listed".There doesn't seem to be any reviews/news on this.Normally the moaners are out in force.
I will just add that I don't care if she's keel up I will still be on her on the 18th.I think the child situation bothers me more, and no I am not a kid hater.
Could you also clarify if people did dress up for dinner formal evenings.I t is part of my hol and I will be taking my finery this time.As a long standing Princess user I will be changing my allegiance if this has changed,I dumb down all year in jeans etc and love my chance to dress up.

Yes! Were on it. Hubby & I slept through it, But Daughter/Son in Law & Children woke...only because 1 or 2 items fell off the bedside table. Daughter got out of bed (it was 4am) and felt she was walking "uphill" she said.
Re formal nights we dressed up for all 3 (even the Grandchildren 11 & 9 had dinner suit..pretty dress) This is part of the holiday and I would say 75% of fellow passengers did dress up (Please read my review) Have a lovely cruise. Am sure you will

This is another Booth..not the one from Wigan,, as in my comments below the ship did 'tilt' one night but as I say we all (including the kids) slept on..no problems..I would only worry if water was coming in !!! We were quite high up on Aloha deck so it may be why we felt the tilt..but it did not appear anything too serious. To be honest the seas were excellent and I have certainly sailed in a lot worse. Formal nights as below ..there were three..we dressed up (including kids) in dinner suits/evening dresses etc. There were a few in smart dark suits..and quite a few kilts... I would say that 80-90% wore DJ's/long dressses etc..quite a few white DJ's too. Please do dress up as to us its all part of the cruise. There were some kids running amock as per this review but it was'nt that bad. If kids are getting on your nerves tell someone about it and let them resolve it.Unfortunately kids will play..but there is a line that should'nt be crossed..Have a fantastic cruise as its a brilliant ship !!!!

The infamous 'list' was on the transit from Livorno to Civitavecchia. We sailed through an awesome electrical storm - in fact it was the thunder that woke us but my wife and I stood in wonder at the lightning display - amazing. We sensed no undue movement, everything in our cabin remained where it was and to our minds we sailed serenely on. We were amazed to learn on the following morning that cabins had been flooded, drawers flung open with contents scattered and even windows broken!
Yes, Formal nights continue. There were 3 on our 14night cruise and they appeared to be very popular and almost everyone joined in. The pity was that due to the captain's poor inter-personal skills, there was no focus to the evening and the cocktails in the Atrium became a meaningless scrum.
T%he cruise overall was great and you will enjoy. Bon Voyage!

Having 200 children on board can make it seem as though they are unruly, but in reality it is one child's excitment multiplied 200 times!!! Though it can seem as though some parents allow their children too much freedom which then spoils the enjoyment of other, remember that we get these families everywhere. Cruising is not immune to it and it is certainly not restricted to those who 'otherwise couldn't afford a cruise had it not been for the child offer'. I've have witnessed plenty of children from families whose parents care more about their own enjoyment and when they'll be having their next alcoholic drink and come from 'middle-class' families and those who DO holiday during school holiday periods! I experienced it last year with one family on Sea Princess when one 10-year-old boy screamed 24/7 especially at the pool and ran about with a builders bum Sadly EVERY year when I return to my timeshare in Madeira - a large family of 6 children; 1 older girl, 5 boys and 1 toddler girl are allowed to run amock! The older kids run about swearing and clambering all over things, not a sight you expect to find in a 5* hotel. Roll on 7 weeks when I 'see' them again!!!! Am I beginning to detest the younger generation as I get older? Hmmmm!

An interesting review - thank you. The trend towards more and more unruly children on cruise ships is, indeed, worrying; they should be in school, of course, but the special offers lure their parents even more than before. It's time parents were not allowed to take their children out of the country during term time in my opinion! As you say, Princess will pay the price for this in the end if they're not careful.

Blimey - ...thats all well and fine for some ...putting my life on the line every day..as does my wife..some of us get 'told' when we can take leave and that is it for the year. It is nice that we can actually fit in a family holiday at all...sorry if we have to inconvenience others (ps..my kids are well behaved - some of us take responsibility)....

WE (Me, MY Husband, Daughter Son-in-Law and 2 Grandchildren (11 & 9) hve just returned from the Med Cruise (13th-27th June) 200 Children out of 2200 persons is a drop in the ocean (excuse the pun) and yes one or two were noisy..but kids will be kids. What amazed us was the amount of Ignorant Old people on board!!!! (And yes we are old 66 & 67) Cruising is for everyone NOT just the "Snobs". If you do not like children then go on a child free cruise. This is what we do when we cruise just the 2 of us. And for some people who don't know legaly you can take your child out of school for 10 days with permission, and at the time we went exams were over and it is nearing for holiday time.
Get a life some of you...wre you not a child once!!!!
