P&O Post Cruise Relations

Having been taking P&O cruises for 20 years we have clearly been fans of the company. This year we spent two weeks on Ventura and to be honest nothing was very bad. The fact was though that nothing was quite right either. Food was served warmish on a regular basis, caberet was average, at best. Just lots of little things that all seemed to point towards penny pinching really.
On my return I wrote to P&O, not a complaint just sharing my experience.
After a staggering 8 weeks Post Cruise Relations wrote back to me telling me I was wrong and that everyone else on the ship had been happy and had a great time.
Guess my food was hot after all!!!
Quality of Food2
American Diner as the restaurant was well below par.
Entertainment2
The big stage shows were good. The main problem was the lay out of the show lounges. Very few seats and even fewer that did not have the view obstructed by posts and walls.

What is "Americanised" anyway? I tried another cruise line after making the swap to what clearly is "the dark side" and went to Celebrity Cruises. I prefer them and have never looked back - more because the passengers are international and interesting instead of looking down from their P&O pedestal. Why say 'americanised' as a detrimental label? Fact is that P&O are just opening their horizons to catch those of us that have strayed after years of loyalty - you can see that clearly in AZURA which looks excellent and will pull passengers back from Celebrity and that Ventura was to pull their passengers back from RCI. If you don't like it, you can always stick to Oriana which is not 'plagued' with the American disease.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip on Ventura, but there should have been no reason why the food was only warm. I hope you sent it back. Obviously the reason P&O had took so long to reply to you was that they were reading all the good questionaires that they had had and patting themselves on the back. You are very lucky to get a reply, as I am still awaiting a reply from Celebrity as to why they cancelled my New Zealand Cruise in March.......Wendy

It is so frustrating when you try to make constructive comments and an organisation disregards them. If we have a complaint in a restaurant we usually pay the bill and then say something afterwards because you become paranoid that people will think you are after a 'freebie'. As you point out you waited for your return before making constructive comments and you would hope P and O would take them seriously instead of saying everyone else was happy! the point is you weren't..Carol

Unfortunately Carol Mr and Mrs Gibson were only 2 people on a large Cruise ship and P&O like many companies do not take onboard what people say whether it is to them personally on this web site. They have taken their money and that all. I believe that Ventura is becoming a very 'americanised' ship and that P&O do not WANT to LISTEN to what their customers are saying. Wendy.

"americanized"? What are you talking about? P&O does not even bother to market to the US, for obvious reasons. They are one company that basically NEVER gets Americans on their ships.

How can you be so racist as to say Americanized and you are wrong. An on line travel company I use in Atlanta Georgia for my American cruises advertise P & O, but to be honest, P & O are so expensive and up themselves, why would the Americans want to go on board. I have travelled extensively (over 30 cruises) and have used many different lines and to be perfectly honest, I have had the most fun, the best food and met some wonderful people on both Celebrity and would you believe Carnival! I'm on Ventura in September and although I'm looking forward to it, I would have preferred RCL's IOS but unfortunately it doesn't go to where we wanted to go!

It was Cox from Winscombe who coined the phrase "americanized", NOT me. I, like yourself, was questioning where that came from; if you read my comments carefully enough.

You have been very lucky to not to have Americans on board whilst you have been cruising. I have been on Oceana 4 times and Arcadia twice and nearly all cruises have had some americans on them and very pleasant they were too. I have made some good friends on these cruises and am due to fly to Florida for Christmas to stay with one of them.
