Ocean Village has been much maligned but we had a fantastic time the James Martin restaurant was fantasic. My advise is to book your cruise to match what you want to do if you enjoy dressing up go P&O or Royal caribbean if you fancy informal go ocean village or NCL. We enjoy doing both so vary the type of cruise we take to suit the places we are visiting beaches informal, sightseeing formal and we have always enjoyed ourselves. If you hear people complain that is what they enjoy doing so ignore them and enjoy yourself, your on holiday.

Sounds great. We are considering going with OV to the caribbean in Feb. Although we enjoyed dressing up on our 1st cruise (RCL), it seems sensible to be more casual when in the Caribbean. Am searching for the offers at the moment. Thanks for your review, it dispels a few concerns I had.

choose to be upgraded then ring up snd ask when they are doing upgrades then ring again on date they say, we had booked a cabin that was 1 below a balcony so the only upgrade was a balcony !!

i would also like to know when is the best time to find out about upgrades, i thought you just got lucky, didnt know u could ring them im goin in october 2nd cruise with ov was brilliant

How far in advance of sailing do they process the upgrades? I might try this for my next holiday. April 2008 we also got an upgrade from top grade outside cabin to a balcony but haven't had one since. I did wonder if it was because I'd booked that trip earlier, though that was my first trip with OV so perhaps they do it in date order rather than favour past passengers?
