Having read some adverse reviews about this ship last autumn we were somewhat apprehensive about joining this cruise. However we found everything from the embarkation onwards to be very efficient. We took most meals in the Waldorf restaurant where the service was both efficient and friendly with a good choice of wellpresented meals. We were fortunate to have a cabin up grade to Premium twin, a larger cabin with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. We took several pre booked excursions all interesting, wellplanned and with good guides. Some concerns were raised regarding the hazard of queuing on the stairs when joinig the tenders/coaches. This was particularly bad on the occasion on the popular North Cape excursion when this led to some passengers having much reduced time at the Cape. There was a good programme of on board activities, these were many and varied to satisfy all tastes. We felt the "Shore excusion and Port Talk" should have been more informative rahter than an excursion promotion. Entertainment was 5*, the talented dancers, singers and musicians were ably supported by the cruise director Richard Sykes The versatile Richard treated us to Gershwin, Elvis, Tome Lehrer and Victoria Wood amongst others. The passenger space ratio on board was only ervident on atsea days, even more so in Marcos restaurant. Overall an enjoyable experience! We would sail on Marco Polo again if the destinations appealde.
