This cruise is the first time we have travelled with NCL.
The Jewel is a lovely Ship, very bright colours all around and very clean, always being reminded by staff to sanitize your hands. The cabin was a good size but shower/toilet cubicle was smallest I have ever seen. Our cabin steward was very friendly and attentive to whatever we wanted.
We only tried the Mama Mia's restaurant one evening, where we had a very enjoyable meal. I did notice that the size of the meal was bigger than when we went to the main restaurants. There was never any problem in getting a table in any of the restaurants. There was a wide selection of food served in all the restaurants to cater for individual tastes. We found that we spent more money on board this cruise i.e. drinks had a 17% auto gratuitie and there is a daily gratuitie of $12. We did feel that is was a bit sell sell sell, and it got a bit tiring at times i.e. scratch cards, raffle tickets, advertising all the speciality restaurants, booking treatments etc...
The evening entertainment was very good, a wide selection of different shows and music around the ship. Found that the few days whilst at sea there was not so much going on of a day time and unfortunately the weather was not so good on these days so could not sit outside and sunbathe. This is the only ship we have been on and found that the water temperature was really warm in the swimming pool's and jacuzzi's.
The places that we visited were amazing especially St Petersburg, whilst we were there we made the most of it, we booked to go on the organised trips (which seemed expensive when booking) but was worth it, as you could not have done these trips on your own. In Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen we decided to find our own way around the cities, but as we got off the ship there were open top buses parked outside the gates, so we jumped on these which saved a lot of walking. You can hop on and off wherever you like and the ticket lasts all day (this was cheaper than there trips).
Overall an enjoyable cruise.
