Return to Marco Polo

We have sailed on the Marco Polo 11 times before when it was owned by Orient Lines so we partly chose this cruise to visit an old friend. Also we always wanted to go to new places and this cruise offered this with visits to the Scottish isles that we had not been to before.
We were very pleased to see that the old standards had been maintained and would recommend a cruise on the Marco Polo without reservation. Tip - chose a cabin with the provision of a third, drop-down bunk as there is more wardrobe space in the cabin.
We would like the operators to go back to choosing the more out of the way places to visit which a small ship can get to instead of the boring Baltic and Norwegian coasts that everybody else seems to concentrate on. Howabout Ibiza, Corsica, Sardinia, Elba, Sicily and Algiers.

Comment by Hoverd, Canvey Island (20 Jun 09 15:02) about this REVIEW
I was on the same cruise and I would just like to say I had a great time. my views as follows out of five: Quality of food - 5. Good choice and fairly varied menu which differed each evening. Entertainment - 4. I agree with the comment re singing and dancing every evening but found plenty oto choose from in the various lounges and bars. Can't fault anyone for effort. Shore Exursions - 3. Again agree they were fairly expensive but the ones I went on were very good. Particulary the visit to Tresco and the Isle of Mull. Staff - 5. Full marks here. From my cabin strewardess to the waiter in the main venue at dinner. By the end of the cruise they were more like friends. Very good service all round. Onboard Activities 4. i thought these were plentiful and varied. Cabins 4. Very pleased with mine. The bed was comfortable and the size was adequate for my needs. it was kept very clean. Overall rating. 5. Some might think this is over the top and I have to say this was my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it with. However, I have been going on holidays for over forty years and this was one of the best I have had.

Being on the same cruise I diagree with the above comments, all aspects of the cruise were first rate, the entertainment in the Marco Polo Lounge were in my estimation London West End class. Will certainly choose Transocean Tours again. Alan Ritchie, Derby.
