Ocean Village 2 - pity about the entertainment

We chose this particular cruise mainly for the fabulous itinerary. Having cruised in the Caribbean before this itinerary was perfect and the ship visited all the islands we would have chosen. Also a factor was the very good price and for my partner not having to wear a dinner jacket! We were more than happy with our balcony cabin, facilities therein and the services of the steward. We have cruised many times but on much smaller ships so were a little nervous about travelling on a bigger vessel. Because the itinerary was a busy one we were off the ship most days and did not find too much difficulty getting sunbeds when we wanted them. The daytime entertainment by the pool was a bit "Butlins", but we ignored it as best we could. The evening entertainment with acrobats, high wire acts etc. was excellent. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the evening entertainment in the bars and theatre, it was dire and quite easily the worst we have encountered on any cruise line. We walked out on several performances. There were no areas where you could sit quietly in the evening and we tended to retire VERY early to get away from the throngs and noise in the bars. We were quite happy with the food although it did get a bit tedious and samey towards the end of the cruise and whilst the dresscode was casual, this was a little too casual in some passengers for our liking.

Would I travel on Ocean Village again? Probably not and this is mainly because of the dreadful, amateurish entertainment, which made the evenings very boring. Pity because the itineraries are superb.
Quality of Food3
Waterfront & Plantation. Excellent breakfasts, salads, fruits and deserts.
Entertainment1
Apart from the outdoor evening acrobats, hire wire acts etc, the entertainment was disastrous. Very amateurish, poor quality, crass comedian. Afraid nothing was good about it.
Shore Excursions5
Dominica champagne reef was the best. All other excursions were very good and very enjoyable. Top marks

I cannot believe you have rated this as 2 star - food was good, itinerary was excellent, cabin was fine and yet you rate it so low because of the entertainment. We used to go for a few drinks, a late dinner and then out on deck for a few drinks outside the sunweaver.before retiring around 11.30 We actually managed that rare art of entertaining ourselves like talking to each other. The entertainment was not to our taste but instead of moaning about it we got on with it and looked forward and planned for the next day and not for one moment let it spoil our holiday. We would recommend OV - entertainment is subjective and each to his/her own. Let them make their own mind up!
