You don't have to put up with it!!

Cruise Line: MSC Cruises Times cruised before: 10+
Cruise Ship: MSC Melody Sailed: October, 2008
Destination: Africa Age: 56-65
After the disastrous experience we had with MSC Melody in October/November 2008 we complained and got no satisfaction until we finally took them to court - and we won - got a partial refund and costs, so you don't have to put up with rubbish service - we are not serial complainers - just wanted satisfaction and got it - you just have to stick to your principles. The Judge stated that Holidays are something which should EXCEED expectation of the purchaser - not fall short, and it would be worthwhile a few more holiday companies recognising that fact. The company we booked MSC With have now also stopped selling their holidays on older ships in the hope that standards will be better on newer ships. so if you have a complaint - go for it - and don't be bullied because the company has unlimited funds and smart lawyers.

Had a bad experience with British Airways over delayed luggage which spoiled TWO days of our (seven of us) holiday/cruise (Miami/Caribbean). Lost TWO days actually trying to locate our luggage ourselves, and, we had to go back to the airport to collect it ourselves, with our representatives getting back to the ship (Freedom of the Seas) with THREE minutes to spare, and, because BA have "offered" vouchers (which we cannot book "online" with, no Ts & Cs with the vouchers, BA are also very arrogant about this. It seems like we have to accept their "offer" or simply go away??. Why on earth would we wish to allow someone who mislaid our luggage in the first place, the opportunity to do it again?). Am sticking to my guns, but, who did you go through with this complaint? Travel Company? MSC? Any advice would be appreciated. Joe g

I took out a Private Prosecution throught the County Court - the initial fee was £75.00 with a follow up fee of £100 once the Court time was allocated - this we got back with the added surcharge that MSC had to pay which meant we got back £250 in costs - we were offered arbitration which I refused as this meant we would HAVE to accept the decision of the Arbitrator, whereas in a court you have the opportunity to put the whole of your case to the Judge which I think is a better way of doing things - we weren't greedy and only claimed for what we thought we deserved which went in our favour - so go for it - it's your money they took - and when they promise to deliver and can't deliver the promise - they should pay you for it. Good Luck

Fortunately, I've never had a bad holiday but I've used the county court twice and it isn't difficult or expensive so well done for giving it a go, I sometimes think we're a bit too ready to accept poor quality service...Liz
