This was a last minute purchase, deal offered by Cunard too good to refuse but it was for an inside cabin. No balconies available. So for the first time after 3 previous sailings on her we settled for the inside cabin. No worries - better hanging and drawer space. Up on Deck 12 with the Pavillion pool and bar just around the corner, felt like our own private pool. Quick access to the outside if the Captain made an announcement on anything to see. Lunch in the Kings Court - best buffet ever, dinner in the Britannia Restaurant - a joy. We had a table for 2 with a very pleasant waiter called Felipe who went out of his way to see everything was perfect. Our only constant gripe with Cunard is the price of the wine and the 15% charge added 'for your convenience'. The food is 5*,plenty of choice catering for those who like to eat lighter, low fat meals to the decadent. The pub provides a good lunch and is great fun when the pianist Paul Madden plays his pub song medley. Everyone sings along. The entertainers on this cruise were the best so far. A ventrilloquist called Dan Horn was amazing and the comedian Kevin Devane was very funny without being smutty. The lectures were also popular, all about Sherlock Holmes and another about Princess Diana and the Royals. We had already been to the shows at the Planetarium on previous cruise but dont miss them.I persuaded my husband to attend a dance class so that we could waltz that night at the Black and White Ball. We did(sort of!) he declined to learn the tango the next day. There are escorts for single ladies to dance with and they all looked like they were having a great time. Our daily exercise came from walking around the promenade deck, 3 times = 1 mile, the well equpped gym and never using the lift except on formal occasions when I wore high heels and a long dress. Most people dress up, the men look so elegant in their tuxedos. Worth making the effort. If not go to the Kings court where there are 4 different restaurants to choose from. Our stops were Honolulu. we usually do our own thing as the excursions are quite expensive now that the AUD$ isnt as strong against the US$. Plenty of things to do for free. Take the Maui Divers Factory bus, see an interesting film on coral and then they drop you off at Waikiki Beach. Keep your ticket and they take you back to the ship! Buses run every 20 mins. Next stop was Pago Pago. Nothing special there, Sadies Bar was popular. Very hot and steamy. Take an umbrella, can rain at any time and heavy! Finally Auckland.Immigration and Quarantine very slow despite our passports being seen on board by NZ officials the day before. Perhaps the Embarkation and Disembarkation proceedures could be better handled. all in all this was one of the best cruises perhaps because we know the Mary very well by now and feel totally at home on her.

Cabins4
Thought I would feel claustrophobic in an inside cabin but not at all. Plenty of hanging space and drawers. Cases fit under the bed. Robes and slippers provided. Only disappointment was with the TV system. they used to have menu from which to look up your on board account and a great selection of music but thats gone. The DJ on for 2 hours at 5pm was good, plays requests which was popular on Valentines Day!
