We cruised on Island Escape 5 -12 May, had an excellent time, the staff could not have been nicer. Cabins were ok, yes they could have been doing with some paint but kept very clean and sheets changed daily, our cabin steward came in twice a day - he was great!

The food was good, we ate mostly in Oasis Restaurant for dinner and Island for breakfast and lunch - again the staff were very attentive.

We didn't go on any organised excursions, we preferred just to do our own thing - there was always a bus to take you to the centre of town.

The entertainment was good although theatre filled up very quickly!

I would recomend this ship and we have already booked for next year!

I have cruised with Island escape about 7 or 8 times, it was our first ship as well,we always found it brilliant value, although since tompson took it over it has gone up in Price. we have cruised with other lines also, Tompson I think is the one I pre fare Island next then P&O,it may sound daft to P&O cruiser's but the smaller ships just feel more friendly , and the fellow guests are different. Although I still enjoy P&O also. I think all cruise ships staff(Crew) are brilliant, its a pity their care and thoughtfulness was not carried over with the rude staff you some times get in hotels.

Glad to see standard still high for the Island Escape, was my first cruise, and still my favorite, I suppose most people are so impressed by their first cruise whoever they are with most of the time, as its so new to them at the time. Wish I could cruise all the time.

Hi we stopped at Sicily - wonderful, Naples - crazy traffic but we did the 'horse and cart' ride, it was great and took you right round the bay of Naples, charge was 40 euro, he started at 60 but soon changed down to 40! Livorno, didn't do a lot here as my partner wanted to watch football match from home, Cannes was great if you like designer shops - I do, and Barcelona was very colourful and busy. Have fun if you are going, i can't wait till next year! June

hi there - you mention that you organised your own excursions - i imagine that would be much cheaper! We are cruising for first time next month visiting cannes, barcelona, pisa, naples and sicily. I just wondered how easy you found it doing the excursions yourself? Did you plan ahead before you went on holiday? How much were the buses from port to destinatin? I am so excited but i am anxious about the cost of organised excursions and not having enough time in each place!

Hi Buses from port to centre of city were free, there are always taxi drivers around and you can team up wih another couple and share cost - this works out cheaper for Pisa. In Naples, the traffice is scary! We got a horse and cart ride round the Bay of Naples, I think it was about 30/40 euros, it was lovely, we were on for about an hour and had time off to visit a church in the square and take pictures. In Barcelona, you can walk to city from port, we did the tour on tour bus, great value and worth it. Most days we were back at ship for about 4 pm, we felt this gave us the best of both worlds, see the sights and relax on board before dinner. Have a great cruise, wish it was me.............. June
