We were on the maiden voyage of Carnival Splendor and it was the first time we had sailed Carnival having previously sailed with Royal Caribbean, NCL and P&O. We prefer the american based lines are they are so much more informal and fun. We reached Dover, embarkation was a breeze and it wasn't long before we reached our inside cabin which wasn't as big as other cabins we have had. We ate most nights at the buffet restaurant but there wasn't a lot of choice so tended to fill up at the pizza bar which did a mean caesar salad along with freshly cooked pizza. The retractable roof was a pleasant change covering the pool area as the weather was so variable, it was always warm and nice to sit on a lounger and watch a movie or concert on the giant screen. The cruise director John Heald was amazing and one of the friendliest guys you could meet. We would sail Carnival again in a heartbeat.
