3-day cruise from Florida to Nassau return

This way our first cruise. Our group was made up of 2 adults and 1 16-year old boy. We had put together our own package from Scotland to Florida and had a 3-day 'window' to fill. We had always thought about a cruise, but were not keen on a week-long one for our main summer holiday, just in case we didn't like it? Did we enjoy this one? Not really. Out of 10 we scored it 6. I think the biggest factor was that it was just too cheesy for us restrained Brits! The OTT Americans just made it a little painful. The food was pretty good and the entertainment was pretty good (if you could block out the OTT folks), but the ship, decorated like an 80's disco in purple glitter walls and neon lights was just really tasteless. The cabin was very good - a fine size for basically 3 adults and it was always well maintained. Didn't think much of Nassau. OK for a few hours, but not much more. The disembarkation (or 'debarkation', which isn't even a real word, as Carnival call it), was a joke. It might not be too bad for US Citizens arriving back in Florida, but for anybody else, the organisation was shocking. I can't remember the timings now, but I'm sure we had to be in one of the lounges for about 06:30. We stood in the queue for over an hour before going back to our cabin, getting showered, finishing packing and then getting breakfast. It seemed really poorly organised. I would advise any UK citizens not to go down at the beginning of this early process. Go down after about three-quarters of an hour after the start. Besides, what are they going to do?? Keep you on the ship?
If you've booked to go on a short cruise with Carnival don't change it, but do be prepared for it to be a bit cheesy. In spite of this, I'm sure you'll find quiet spots and have a good time. (The duty free shops on the ship have excellent prices on booze. Don't buy it before you get to the ship). Bon voyage

Nice to see a review from a fellow Langtonian. I've not been on a Carnival Cruise but quite fancy it, it must be much more fun than our QM2 voyage to Carribean. I agree about the US customs. Why is it that the Americans always assume that the whole world and their dog wants to live in America? I certainly don't - it's nice for a holiday but give me Scotland anyday. US Customs haven't quite grasped this point yet and insist on people who Cleared Customs in US only a few days before at Florida having to go through it all again it's nearly as bad as Sydney Airport.- Where they make you feel so unwelcome it's shocking

We were on this ship 7 years ago. Yes, the decor was a bit bright!!! Really did need your sunglasses on - even in an inside cabin! We were told after going on this ship that they call it a 'fun'ship - it was certainly that for the masses of teenagers. This would definately NOT be my first choice of cruise line again. Please do not let your experience put you off cruising though. There are some great cruise lines out there
