As you can see from the picture shes a biggy! (Not my tiny Girlfriend with the Pink Case) The Voyager of the Seas!!!
After finding a great deal on the Internet for a 7day Western Med Cruise I thought I would take my girlfriend on the Voyager of the Seas as I knew once she had tried cruising she would be 'converted.'
It started off in Barcelona and although it was a bit of a panic to get onto the ship due to the sheer amount of people it was only around 5mins of fighting on the escalator before boarding and believe it or not once we got onboard everyone seemed to just disappear. Many of you may not have wanted to choose a larger ship as you didnt want it to be crowded but from experience the only time it appeared busy was on the Formal Night entering the Restaurant (when everyone had their pictures taken) and when the Captain did his speech in the Promenade, apart from that it never seemed overcrowded even tho it was at full capacity. Some nights we even had the Viking Crown Lounge to ourselves
With regards to the ship, it was Amazing! I wont bore you with everything but just the Promenade in the centre of the ship was Giant leap forward in ship design and you never got bored of saying 'I cant believe i`m on a ship.'
The Restaurants were ok like most RCL ones. The dining room as huge as it was still meant you had to share with others. The buffet was great but didnt change much over the 7 days, although to be fair the variety was fine! (Plasic plates and beakers tho were a let down)
The room (Balcony) was great. Although it didnt have a flat screen TV and the bathroom wasnt huge, the overall design was fine for a weeks cruise and the bed was HUGE! The Balcony was unobstructed but as we were on the first level of the Balconys we didnt have a glass balcony looking into the sea, we had a metal one which didnt cause any problems, it just meant you couldnt lie in bed looking out to sea. (This has been redesigned on the 3 later Voyager Class ships I believe)
We would definately sail with Royal Caribbean again, but they do need to introduce something like the 'Freestyle Cruising' as this would definately be welcomed and avoid everyone being in the same place at the same time.
As for 'converting' my girlfriend to a Cruiser...well lets just say shes the one ordering the cruise brochures now!
