Cruise Reviews

A wonderful experience

Reviewed By: Gerber, glasgow on 7th Sep 2008
Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean Cruises Times cruised before: 3-5
Cruise Ship: Independence of the Seas Sailed: June, 2008
Destination: Mediterranean Age: 56-65
Pros:Eveything the ship had a wondrful ambiance
Cons:The lack of supervision of children late in the evening.

We flew from Edinburgh to Heathrow airport without any problems and were met by the Royal Caribbean staff who directed us to our coach for the onward journey to Southampton this was the only blip on the holiday as it took about two hours to get to the ship as the coach circled the airport picking up other passengers.
From the moment we arrived at the port of southampton every thing went like clockwork the ease of boarding the ship was so quick and straitforward. We really like Royal Caribbean's style, service, and innovative ships, and the new Idependence of The Sea did not disappoint. It was like a totally different Experience every day and night, there is so much to do and see. If only we had a nother week onboard.
Dining/Food
The main dinning room was very good and the waiter servise was excelent, although we only saw the head waiter on a couple of ocasions but he was not missed. We dined once in the Portofino resturant it was worth the extra cost as the sevice and food could not have bean better
The Stateroom on the 8th deck with it's wonderfull views of the sea and ports of call was excelent and the addition of sliding doors on the shower is a great improvement also you were allowed to smoke on your balcony which was an added bonus .
Entertainment /Activities
The entertaiment and all the activities were excelent especially the shows that were performed on the shopping mall there was so much to do and see the only problem is there is not enough time to do or see every thing.
The variety of theme bars with various types of entertainment were of a very high standard and the drinks were all reasonably priced also the sevice was excelent.
Staff
The ships staff could not be faulted on their service it was of the highest standard and I was amased that on such a large ship the staff could remember your Preference.

Opinion: Disagree Comment by Summers, Weymouth (14 Sep 08 09:01) about this REVIEW
I once had a cigarette-end land in my hair after being tossed carelessly from the balcony above, so I am horrified that smoking is allowed on balconies! And didn't a Princess boat catch fire after a similarly discarded cigarette-end was sucked into a state-room? I understood that IOTS only allowed smoking in designated areas!!!
