Now That's What You Call A Holiday!

I sailed on the Thomson Celebration on the Fjordland Wonders holiday. It was my first cruise and I never thought it would be as great as it was. Checking in at Harwich was no problem, much easier than I thought it would be.

Two other adults shared the deluxe cabin on deck 7 with me and there was plenty of space for all of us. There were large mirrors, full sized wardrobes and a mini-bar fridge. The picture window let in a lot of light. It was spotlessly clean as was the whole ship. The steward never forgot to leave a goodnight chocolate on our pillows. Thank you Hendra.

I ate in the self-service restaurant - the Lido. The food was fantastic and you could eat as much as you liked 24 hours a day. The menu was always changing. I walk with a stick and even though I tried to hide it the superb staff immediately came to carry my tray and help get my food even at busy times. Thank you lads, you are stars.

There was always something to do around the ship. There were quizzies and cabaret, a comfortable cinema and much more. The evening shows were excellent, different each night and performed by a talented and energetic bunch. The daily Cruise News had all the details. Walking 5 times round the promenade equalled a mile.

Norway is beautiful with clouds low over the mountains and many waterfalls and meadows. I didn't go on any of the ship's excursions. Bergen was a fifteen minute walk away and was busy with lots of expensive shops and narrow alleyways to explore in lovely Bryggen. There are a lot of level walks in Olden taking you past wooden houses, each one painted differently to its neighbours.

The Flamsbana Railway in Flam was fully booked so if you want to go on that you might have to go on the ship's trip. The walk to Flam's old church is long but worth it with wonderful scenery all around. Eidfjord is surrounded by high mountains. There are a few souvenir shops and grocery shops. There's a nice sculpture park close to the dock. I went on the Troll Train aptly named because you have to sit cramped up like a troll on it! It goes past Viking grave mounds and stops at a viewpoint overlooking the ship in the fjord below so you can take photos.

We had a wonderful time and can't wait for our next cruise.

My family and I also went on our first cruise on the celebration and agree totally with everything that you have said. Norwegian Fjords were breathtaking! I would definately book to go on this ship again as we liked the family atmosphere..nothing too stuffy! Staff brilliant, food wonderful! Cant wait until next time.
