RCCL MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE - LEGEND OF THE SEAS

Reviewed By: THOMPSON, HODDESDON on 20th Aug 2008
Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean Cruises Times cruised before: 3-5
Cruise Ship: Legend of the Seas Sailed: August, 2008
Destination: Mediterranean Age: 46-55
Just returned from a Royal Caribbean Cruise on Legend of the Seas to Greece and Eastern mediterranean-cruises/">Mediterranean. Had a fabulous time and would highly recommend both the ship and the cruise company. I must admit that I was rather surprised by the size of the ship, as it was smaller than most of the other RCCL ship's we came across in the med but it had everything on board you could possibly want and even on days at sea, it never felt over crowded. Breakfast in the Windjammer restaurant was probably the only area that could have done with some extra seating. I don't know how RCCL select their staff but I never came across one that wasn't smiling and eager to help or wish you a good day. The waiters were amazing. RCCL also organised their excursions extremely well. On no occasion did it ever feel that we were being herded about. They were all very smooth running and the restaurants and rest-rooms provided on land were always of a very high calibre. Our outside cabin was adequate but without our 15 year old son sharing with us, would probably have seemed more spacious. The entertainment programme was very full for every age group although the shows were not the best I have seen - however, with so many nice lounges and areas with different types of music and entertainment, this was far from a problem. I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone wishing to visit the med and I can't wait until I can go on another.
Quality of Food4
Mainly ate in the Romeo and Juliette Restaurant for Dinner and the Windjammer on all other occasions.
Entertainment3
Elton John Tribute was the show I enjoyed the most and the RCCL Swing Show was the one I did not enjoy but I am not a fan of swing music. The dancers were excellent.
Shore Excursions4
The best excursion was probably Ephesus because the guide was brilliant and the least favourite was Athens because the guide was not so easy to understand.
Staff5
The Waiter in the Romeo and Juliette Restaurant impressed me the most. He remembered our names right from the start and consistently did more for us than was necessary.
Children's Facilities3
My 15 year old son had a great time although it was more down to the fact that there were plenty of other teenagers on board rather than making the most of the facilities on board. But I think this is an age thing rather than a critiscm.
Onboard Activities4
Loads to do on board for all ages and tastes.
Cabins2
Cabin was adequate - with two adults and a 15 year old - we probably could have done with a little more space but we weren't ever in it for very long.

My husband and i were on this cruise with my parents and 11 yr old nephew. we love Legend for it's size, having been on Navigator last year. No crticisms but prefer the feel of less people! Having said that we're booked on Indpendence next year! Enjoyed the ports of call - be careful if you take a similar route and stop in Egypt. Many people coming back from excursions to Cairo were unwell and we heard of one person paying about $700 for an anti-biotic injection on board. Not RCI's fault of course, but just be careful with what you eat and drink on land. We had the worlds oldest tour guide in Athens, which annoyed a lot of people on our coach but just made us laugh! All of us wanted to stay on board and I don't think you can say any better than that.
