Was looking forward to the new Ventura - went on a family holiday (2 grandparents, plus our daughter, husband and two grandchildren). We celebrated three birthdays whilst on board - one adult and two grandchildren. We had an inside cabin, which was nicely furnished, whilst our family of four had an outside cabin. The inside compares to the outside, but only a little less in length. Had room service for morning tea every day, which was reliable. The staff in general were very curteous and helpful. We opted for freedom dining, which actually was not as described. However, most days we got a time of our choosing, but had to say the children were dining with the adults to get the appropriate times. There are nowhere near enough tables for four - and these are in fact the smallest tables for four we have ever dined on. The choice of food in the dining room was good, and generally no complaints, however there were a few issues with fish being overcooked and steaks not arriving on the table as ordered. The staff did try to rectify this. The childrens clubs (Toybox and Jumping Jacks) were enjoyed by the grandchildren, plenty of varied activities. With regard to the swimming pools - the water was generally cool - having been on many other P & O cruises before I was expecting them to be warmer, so it was very disappointing to discover this was not the case. The Beachcomber pool was very noisy with the teenagers - no control over the fact that they did lots of jumping and diving there, even though there was a sign to say there should not be any. Found that even on a very warm day, the roof was not open, so very uncomfortable there. The theatre was lovely, it is quite a pity that in general the shows were not at good as the theatre - in fact in our opinion only three or four shows out of the two weeks were enjoyable. We enjoyed all the venues we visited - the decor very tasteful, and many different themes, which made it interesting. Would thoroughly recommend East restaurant - even though reception said this had a £10 supplement, when in fact it was £15, but it was well worth it. Only drawback for seadays was that there did not seem to be enough room out on deck - sunbeds too cramped. Would recommend this ship for families.
