We have just returned from a 7 day holiday on the island-cruises-summer-holidays/">Island Star . We have two children aged 15 (boy) and 8 (girl). The travel agent recommended a cruise as I was dithering about what to do this year, and didn't want to hear " I'm bored ". We liked the look of the facilities, and just went for it ! We had a brilliant time. Cabins ( inside cabin for 4 ) excellent, Staff very friendly, Food excellent, Entertainment - something for everyone , Ship was massive, never felt cramped. We pre-booked 4 shore excursions before we went ( 2 beach trips and Rome and Monte Carlo ) Unless you are an early bird , I would recommend that you don't do loads of trips as they are early starts - up dressed and breakfasted to meet at 7.30am for the full day trips. I was also unsure how much freedom our 8 year old would have to be safe on the ship - Falling overboard worries, strangers, getting lost etc.. She made friends and once she got her bearings she was allowed freedom of the ship ( having been shown where we were sitting - so she knew where to find us ) There are perspex barriers not rails so you don't have to worry about them falling overboard. Our 15 year old son found friends of the same age, and the card room is used as the teens meeting place, and often returned to the cabin after we had gone to bed! He liked the look of the cyber hub, but didn't use it as internet access was 30p per minute!. We all had a great holiday, and my husband and I had plenty of quality time as the kids were well occupied, I even managed to read a book ! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone !
