We have just returned from a 2 week cruise aboard Oceana. Embarkation went very smoothly, there was some waiting, but with 2000 passengers that was to be expected. We were all directed to the Plaza self service restaurant whilst the cabins were being prepared, this is a very busy area, but if you are patient a table can be found and the food was great. We dined in the Adriatic, the food every evening was exceptional, wine is not too badly priced, P&Os house wine being the cheapest at £12.95 and was good quality. Our balcony cabin was lovely, little on the small side up on A deck, the bed was very comfy, and the cabin steward kept it immaculate. The best place without doubt for lunch is the cafe Jardin. This is very civilised, great sandwiches and pizzas together with daily specials. A lack of cinema on board was on the minus side, however the on board entertainment was of a very high standard. Our last 2 days at sea on route home dragged, but again I would say with a cinema, this would make a big difference. There is a very good library on board, specialist coffees demand a small charge. Not every restaurant can provide this despite them being on the menus Overall a great trip, lovely staff particularly the exec purser Ian who is professional to the hilt. The sailaway parties are great fun, the sun bed situation seems to have resolved itself, a 20 min policy apples, so only the brazen few reserve beds for longer.
