MSC ARMONIA - NEVER AGAIN

Reviewed By: MOSS, GRANTHAM on 4th Jul 2008
Cruise Line: MSC Cruises Times cruised before: 3-5
Cruise Ship: MSC Armonia Sailed: June, 2008
Destination: Norwegian Fjords Age: 46-55
We recently spent 11 days on the MDC ARMONIA We would not recommend MSC cruises to anyone or go on another MSC cruise ourselves. The reasons being three fold.

1] The food was poor - compared with other lines we have sailed with, it was akin to school dinners 0 the self service cafeteria was atrocious - the food was mostly cold on arrival and either had far too much salt or none at all.

2] The mostly italian crew were arrogant and rude - everthing was too much trouble. However, as you would expect, the non Italians were great.

3] Of the 2000 passengers, there were 55 Brits. In itself no problem, we met some very nice people. The problem came from the big difference in our / their idea of a dining dress code. The Brits put on DJ's et al. The Spanish and Italian guesta put on their best wooly jumpers and slippers. Not saying whose right and whose wrong, but MSC need to shape up their policies and make it clear that they do not have formal nights as most lines would interpret the experssion.

What else can we tell you?

The balcony cabin was very nice.
The casino staff were great [even when we won!].
The shows were good
The ship is very well cared for and looks modern

So there were some good things, but we would never go back.

Quality of Food1
EXTREMELY POOR - EVEN THE PASTA WAS POOR ON OCCASIONS
Entertainment3
ALL THE SHOWS WERE WELL DONE AND THE CLASSICAL DUO WERE EXCELLENT
Shore Excursions1
A RIGHT ROYAL RIP OFF
Staff1
ITALIANS AND RUSSIANS ARROGANT AND RUDE ASIANS AND OTHER NATIONALITIES GREAT
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities2
THERE WAS A FULL PROGRAM OF SILLY GANES - NOT ENOUGH EDUCATIONAL TALKS - THIS IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE AN ISUE ON A BOAT WERE ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE IN 5 LANGUAGES
Cabins4
THE CABIN WAS FINE.
Overall Rating1

totally disagree......was there for 11 nights for norway and north cape and we really enjoyed ourselves - and it is really a shame I saw a reply on the above stating that the food is mc donalds standard......come on what a difference!! we were very satisfied overall with Armonia - animation team great, shows great, there was something for everyone...it is impossible that you like everything on a ship but it is more impossible that there is more negative things than positive things on any cruise line!!! I also have travelled and cruised with several lines and although some things maybe I prefer one line for another, but I cannot say I will never go again on any particular cruise-line. sorry this is my opinion!!!

i totally agree with your comments and thought as you said the non european crew where excellent including cabin staff with there no problem approach, and the duo of violinist and pianist were great, and as you said the food was rubbish[better food at mcdonalds] and thats saying something, and the biggest RIPOFF is the price of excursions,WE ARE PEOPLE WHO HOLIDAY EVERY MONTH AND BEEN ON 13 CRUISES,and say we will go anywhere once but twice is another thing.AND WE WILL NEVER SAIL WITH MSC CRUISES AGAIN...BE WARNED,by the way this was the baltic cruise on the armonia

We went to Rio on "Armonia" last Winter and the above sums up our experience of the ship. Beautiful ship - shame about the rest!
