Sailed on The Black Watch from Dover on 21st April this year. never been on the Olsen line before and the attraction was a no-fly holiday. We had a junior suite on Lido Deck and were delighted with the space and the little touches..frsh fruit every day. The ports of call were another draw...unfortunately because of the French seaman's strike we could not dock at La Rochelle which was a huge disappointment..however we continued to Bilbao and were extremely pleased when the Captain announced the replacement port was Oporto...a World heritage site that is worth a return visit. We enjoyed the food on the ship very much choosing to dine often in The Garden Cafe . Service was good and everthing was spotless and well maintained. We went on several shore excursions and felt they mostly represented value for money. the organisation was occasionally slow when we needed to disembark and find the coaches and the young staff were occasionally less than bothered about this. The entertainment was of a reasonable standard, with the usual mix of comics ,solo musicians and themed show nights. The general age range of fellow passengers was at the upper limit....I suspect this was partly due to the fact that no flying was invovled. All in in the Iberian trip was a very good cruise and for those wanting a medium to small ship then The Black Watch was ideal.
