My First Cruise

The Crown Princess was my first vacation cruise ever and it did justice to my first impression of cruising and the Princess Chain. I boarded in San Juan and was greeted by long lines of passengers during embarkation, but the process was smooth and hassle-free. They loaded our luggage onto the trams and delivered right to our cabin door. That was very impressive!!

I was amazed at the size of the ship, but it was very easy to navigate and we never got lost, well…only once, but we didn’t mind because there was never a dull or lonely corridor. The ambiance of the ship is superb, the back ground music is enchanting and the talking elevators were a hit, one of the reasons we didn’t get lost or miss our deck!!

Food
Food to die for, especially the desserts! We dined in Michelangelo’s Dining room, Sabatini’s Restaurant and the Crown Grill.

Entertainment
There were soooo many things to do in terms of entertainment but usually it was Movies under the Stars for me.

Shore Excursions
Booked our own. However we were jealous when we heard others speaking about what they did. So next time I think I’ll book with Princess!!

Staff
Very Friendly and helpful. The Waiters were there at our every beck-and-call and we especially liked our stateroom attendant who was very accommodating.

Onboard Activities
Once again, so many things to see and do.

Cabins
We were on the Plaza Deck in an Oceanview Cabin. Very spacious and ample closet room. The air-conditioning at night was great, slept like a baby!

Destinations
The island-cruises-summer-holidays/">islands we visited were St. Thomas, Grenada, St. Kitts, Bonaire and Aruba
but I especially liked St. Thomas and Aruba.

Shopping in St. Thomas was great and we also did a tour up into the Hills which was a great photo opportunity. In Aruba we toured as well and the rocks spoke volumes for the country, it was amazing that they actually got washed up from the sea - they were HUGE!
Bonaire was another good shopping experience!
Grenada and St. Kitts reminded me of home (Barbados).
The length of time in each country was ample -and the day at sea was much needed!

Overall I can say Crown Princess have provided a lasting impression in my mind!!

One of these days I'll do a Princess cruise! When we were docked in St.Maarten, in early May last year, the huge (sister-ship)Caribbean Princess was on the other side of the Philipsburg dock -an impressive 'floating city'!
